Shocking numbers

1. India’s engagement with Afghanistan --> Engage the Taliban, don’t recognise them. -->  Protect Indian investment in Afghanistan: $3bn (2001-2021) --> Prevent Afghan soil to be used by anti India  militants. --> To prevent Taliban to become external arm of Pakistan's establishment --> India losing stable partners in south asia and China making inroads. --> connectivity for trade. Pakistan refuses to allow transit trade. --> in the broader Eurasian region, Russia has officially recognized the taliban government(1st country) and others like China, Pakistan, Iran Gulf and Central Asian states allowed taliban embassies. India can't afford to be cut out. 2. Taliban’s totalitarianism "Taliban’s totalitarianism is distinct. It is perhaps the only regime that bars girls from attending school beyond the primary level. It has enforced strict segregation between men and women in public spaces, and largely banned women from workplaces. " 3. Issues in engagement --> Taliban shelter to deep networks. --> Stability of taliban government is itself doubtful. Afghans economy has contracted by around 1/3, and amid high-decibel repression and mountain economic distress it is far from certain that Pashtun - men only regime of taliban has truly consolidated power in afghanistan.

1. Digital Divide : Lack of infrastructure, connectivity, local language models. AI can enhance the divide. 2. Teacher Readiness: Many lack proper qualifications, continuous coaching needed. 3. "Dis-education": AI might reduce incentive to learn, impact critical thinking. We might lose intergenerational learning Because until now, whatever AI is doing is actually based on all the learning that humanity has had. 4. Ethical Risks: Children sharing personal info with chatbots, misinformation, biased data. 5. Guardrails: Need for safety in chatbot design, regulations for children's data. 6. Critical thinking skills hampered : students answered something using AI, but when asked to replicate and explain in their own language students failed to do so. PROFESSOR STUART RUSSEL : HOW HUMANS DEAL WITH A I IN EDUCATION IS THE LITMUS TEST OF HUMANITY'S ABILITY TO BE ABLE TO REGULATE AND HANDLE AI DEVELOPMENT FOR ITS OWN GOOD
