But he’s misconstruing what he actually is. “Settlers” arrive in undeveloped lands and through their labor and institutions build prosperous civilizations from the ground up. “Conquerors”, on the other hand, arrive after the wealth has been created to seize its benefits and reshape the society, including its laws and symbols like the flag, to suit their own demands. And the word “immigration” has been stretched beyond recognition. It no longer describes the scale or character of much of what is happening in the West. Large numbers arrive not to join and reinforce the civilization that draws them in, but to extract its prosperity while working to transform its demographics, culture, religion, and governance into something closer to what they left behind.
