The bar chart provides detailed information about the proportion of various household appliances owned by British families in the years 2001 and 2008.Overall, it is clear that the percentage of households with most appliances increased significantly over this period, except for telephones, which saw a slight decrease. Despite these changes, telephones, microwaves, and CD players remained common household items, while the internet and dishwashers were the least owned.Looking at the chart in more detail, telephones led the category with over 90% in 2001, but this figure slightly decreased by 2008. In contrast, the ownership of microwaves and CD players rose significantly, both reaching 90% in 2008 from 80% and 70% in 2001, respectively.On the other hand, other categories witnessed dramatic changes. For instance, by 2008, the percentage of households with mobile phones doubled to 80% from 40% in 2001. Similarly, the ownership of home computers, internet access, and dishwashers saw substantial increases. Home computers grew from one-third to nearly three-quarters, internet access surged from 10% to 50%, and dishwashers rose from 20% to 40%. Conversely, clothes dryers experienced only a slight increase, from 60% in 2001 to 70% in 2008.
