“What really happened, we will find out in time, but the fact is that there was an incredible hate campaign against Fico in Slovakia and throughout Europe. We will find out whether the assassination attempt is related to this or not, but what happened is almost certainly a consequence of the hatred and information campaign against Mr. Fico. That's absolutely certain. The reason for the hatred was Fico's political position... You know, in the West, differing political positions are punished, punished in different ways. Sometimes they impose sanctions against you, sometimes they shoot at you.”

Kuwait has extended the deadline for submitting fingerprint data for the country’s central biometric database. Kuwaitis will be able to give their fingerprints until September 30th while expats will receive an even longer deadline – until December 30, 2024, according to the Ministry of Interior. The initial deadline to finalize the collection of fingerprints was June. Authorities have been urging Kuwaitis to complete the registration under the threat of suspending all transactions with Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior. According to a 2023 survey by Deloitte, 71 percent of Belgians do not want a digital ID on their phone. Another 79 percent say do not want a mobile driver’s license (mDL) while half refuse to fully digitize their IDs. The national digital wallet was envisioned as an alternative to the popular itsme app, a digital identity app owned by a consortium of local telecom companies and banks that has 3.5 million registered users in Belgium. Who could be behind Slovakia PM Fico's attempted murder? Big power games could be behind the assassination attempt on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, Serbian-American Journalist Nebojsa Malic believes. 💬 "[Fico] basically reversed the previous government's policy towards Ukraine because the previous government had handed over a whole bunch of weapons," Malic told Sputnik.

"[He] has been very critical of the EU and NATO position towards the conflict and has said this needs to be negotiated to stop the fighting, which is essentially the [Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor] Orban position."

For NATO, Slovakia is one of the key conduits for all sorts of military support for Ukraine, Malic explained, adding that losing both Slovakia and Hungary as transit routes of weapons to Ukraine would drastically complicate things for the military bloc.
