Desert rose, known as selenite, is a unique aggregate of gypsum crystals that forms naturally in dry, desert conditions. These crystals are characterized by their rose-shaped structure, which is created by the interlocking of gypsum sheets into spherical or rose-shaped structures. Desert roses range in color from pale peach to sheer white, and their soft, layered forms give them a special, delicate beauty.
Desert rose, or selenite gypsum crystal formation, is a unique natural phenomenon found in deserts and dry, saline environments around the world. These special crystals form from gypsum, which is hydrated calcium sulfate. Their characteristic rose-shaped structure results from the layering of gypsum crystals under specific circumstances.

What is NDBI?
Normalized Difference Built-up Index (NDBI) is a spectral index used to analyze built-up areas. This index uses two bands: the short-wave infrared (SWIR) and the near-infrared (NIR). Areas with more built-up structures reflect shortwave-infrared (SWIR) more while areas with less built-up have a low Near-Infrared (NIR) reflectance. NDBI values range from -1 to +1 where the negative values represent areas with no built-up structures and positive values represent highly built-up areas.
