Completing the lineup of our August 20 A/V DJ set from musical maelstrom ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U, mad-scientist synthesist Errorsmith brings his DJ prowess to @hausdervisionaereberlin’s decks for some hyperactive cartoon rave weirdness. Our sister festival transmediale is gearing up for summer with the upcoming discourse series conversation pieces: pool edition in collaboration with the art space Tropez, located in Humboldthain’s public swimming pool. Bringing together artists, curators and creators, the series takes everyday technologies as its starting point and situates them in the context of the pool—an excellent way to soak up some new ideas 🐬 The conversations will be held in German. On July 29, Japanese trio Violent Magic Orchestra return to open the pit at Urban Spree, pre-scourged by industrial punks PΞB. A luminous and verminously gnarled black hole of hardcore black metal rave, VMO are entropy and energy copulating furiously, suffocating guitars and throat-shredding screams as machines hammer like rabid gods. PΞB open the night with a feverish and brutal theatrical assault, drenched in distorted beats, twisted electronics, and explosive vocals.

The Berlin debut of alien black metalists Krallice on October 13 opens with an aural tear in the fabric of reality. Built almost entirely electronically from modular synthesis, Rashad Becker’s dense microtonal environments shape artificial voices and unstable interactions that breathe with uncanny organic life. Narratives mapping uncharted fictional realms recur heavily in his work, ephemeral realms where no single aesthetic reign dictates form; rather, an infinite tapestry of sonic diversity flourishes in boundless variation.

Making their Berlin debut in a rare European appearance, few bands push black metal as far outside its own architecture as Krallice. Since their formation they've steadily dismantled metal orthodoxy, moving towards increasingly alien territory: folding relentless tremolo riffing into labyrinthine rhythmic structures, their dissonant harmonies and longform compositions feel suspended outside normal pacing. Open Call—For their 2027 edition, our sister festival transmediale is calling for applications for the Lattice Labs, a series of experimental working groups dedicated to rethinking and testing alternatives to technological monocultures of extraction and surveillance. The call is open for early career and emerging artists, researchers, curators, students, and practitioners from all disciplines. Returning to Berlin with a new A/V set on August 20, ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U brings the high-velocity selections he’s become beloved for. One second ramming industrial techno beats into gabber and breakcore, the next threading together trance, anime soundtracks and gqom without losing control or momentum for a second—a brilliantly deranged form of live composition assembled at occult speed via CDJs, and all without a shirt. Findings and tactile experiments carried out for the research project »Arsenic Ballerinas« with pigments and powder expose the multifaceted history of lipsticks. Archival circuits, images and YL (young lady) radio amateur operators' transmissions draw parallels between toxicity, beauty, and technological developments.
