| 10 | I had such a nice and interesting dream. Long post incoming.
So I was going to the cinema to watch some new disney animated movie about homophobia, and there were really funny ads before it (there was an ad which was some gay kid being beaten by bullies then he runs off and hides in an abandoned hotdog stand, and the bullies couldn’t find him. And then it turns out it’s that hotdog brand’s ad about how they’ve been working to protect queer youth lmao leave it to my dreams to make a tonedeaf ass advertisement).
The movie starts and it in this huge Disney-castle-esque building, which is the school, and it’s full of furries, but not just normal animals, more like strange mixes of real animals’ features, and they came in all sorts of bright colours and fur patterns. The inside of the school is… fantastic, it’s really difficult to describe what aesthetic it is. It’s liek dark academia with tall gothic arched hallways, but the brick walls and the lockers ate brightly colored, and half of the hallway is a small creek with reeds and lily pads. So it’s like… cottagecore… solarpunk… dark academia with bright colours.
We are introduced to the main character, a “kobold” (meaning a dog-like mostly normal anthro) named Garrett with bright green, blue, and cyan fur that seems sparser, or greasier than the other “kobolds” but he’s also larger than them. He’s gay and in the theater/drama club. His boyfriend is a pastel purple shapechanger, with light blue markings named Brandon, currently looking like something of an otter, and wearing a fucking… renaissance or newsboy hat, with a big feather, a shirt and overalls. Then the other two gay members of the club show up, and the main character says something about a test next week, and they all seem awkward. Turns out, all of them are changing to another, drama-focused school, and they will no longer be attending this school, leaving the main character to be the only out gay dude in the entire school. He feels betrayed and asks why they didn’t tell him, and to add insult to injury, his boyfriend starts explaining that “He loves him but he wouldn’t have been admitted to that otber school because he’s just… built different. And he’s sort of strange.” And then he breaks out in song all over the school, changing to like a purple cat in a jester outfit, and a purple fox, then runs up the wall, out the window, and on the roof, singing about how he’s walking towards his dream and he can’t let himself be held back by anything, not even relationships and they break up.
Then the main character is alone, the principal or teacher(?) who’s an old cream-white sheep with porcupine quill hair, consoles him, but he gets bullied later on, yadda yadda, I don’t fully remember, then there’s a new transfer, a black crow-like bird girl, and she stands up for him, and they become friends and maybe even a little more. In the meantime, it turns out the narcissistic boyfriend is also getting bullied at the other school and can’t make friends because of his narcissism, and he doesn’t get any big roles because he’s not as good as he thought he was. Also the stagehands aren’t very helpful, and this is where it turns out the main character wasn’t an actor but a stagehand, and he’s meant to be unattractive.
So then i think I started waking up ‘cause I don’t remember it as vividly, but I think the crow and the MC start dating, turns out the crow is trans, then the shapechanged ex comes crawling back, and the MC can’t help but forgive him and they kiss passionately. As a final humor closing shot, the MC says there IS something Brandon can do to make it up to him. And it cuts to them walking in the hallway holding hands, and Brandon’s permanent form is the small cat-like race, which is really funny because he has a deep and eloquent voice like a true thespian, and he says “this is just embarassing!”.
