*Reality behind Tax Exemption limit of Rs. 5 Lakh* Slab rate of income tax for individuals has been kept same as last year, however rebate under section 87A has been increased from 2,500 to 12,500 for all those individuals resident in India whose total income does not exceeds Rs. 500,000. Income tax upto the income of Rs. 5,00,000/- come to Rs. 12,500. Rebate of same amount has been given in section 87A. Thus benefit shall not be available to those individuals whose total income exceeds Rs. 5,00,0000 or who is non-resident.
