11. Dhikr is the Path to Knowing Allah, Loving Him & Being Loved by Him
Ibn al-Qayyim said: โIndeed Allah has made a means for attaining everything. He has made continuous remembrance (dhikr) the means for love. So, whoever wants the love of Allah, then let him fervently remember Him.โ
Dhu al-Nun (raแธฅimahullah) said: โWhoeverโs heart and tongue are occupied with dhikr, Allah casts into his heart the light of longing for Him.โ
Al-Rabiสฟ b. Anas (raแธฅimahullah) said: โThe sign of the love of Allah is that there is a great deal of remembrance of Him, because if you ever love a thing you remember it a great deal.โ
Ibn al-Qayyim (raแธฅimahullah) wrote: โDhikr of the heart and tongue leads one to know Allah, inspires love, encourages modesty, and leads to fear and self-examination. It keeps one from falling short in obedience to Him and prevents one from taking sins lightly.โ
โIn regards to dhikr, people are on one of two levels. For the general Muslims, it is to earn rewards. For the elite, however, it is to draw near to Allah and be in His presence. What a tremendous gulf there is between the two levels. What a difference there is between one who takes his reward from behind a veil, and one who is drawn close and becomes of the elite lovers!โ (Ibn Juzayy raแธฅimahullฤh)
12. Dhikr is a Source of Nur (light)
Allah says: โOn that Day you will see believing men and women with their light shining ahead of them and on their right. (They will be told,) โToday you have good news of Gardens, under which rivers flow, (for you) to stay in forever. This is the ultimate triumph.โ
[57:12]
Dhikr will be a nur for you in your grave, and on the Day of Judgement. This nลซr will keep you steady on the แนฃirฤแนญ (a bridge which must be passed on the Day of Judgement) that will guide you to Paradise.
Dhikr is also nลซr in this world. It illuminates your heart, face and the rest of the body. Ibn al-Qayyim (raแธฅimahullah) explains that the more nur the heart has, the greater the nur of your actions and words will be. Thus, there are some believers whose actions ascend up to Allah, and the nลซr of their deeds is like the light of the sun.
โBy Allah, if you could hear the sound of the pens of the angels writing your name amongst those who remember Allah, you would die out of joy.โ

๐น๏ธAbu Hassan reported:
I said to Abu Huraira that my two children had died. Would you narrate to me anything from Allah's Messenger (๏ทบ) a hadith which would soothe our hearts in our bereavements?
He said: โYes, the Prophet said: Their young are roaming about in Paradise.โ
If one of them meets his father (or he said his parents) he would take hold of his cloth, or he said with his hand as I take hold of the hem of your cloth (with my hand). And he (the child) would not take off (his hand) from it until Allah causes his father to enter Paradise.

It was narrated from Ka'b bin 'Ujrah who said:
The Messenger of Allah (๏ทบ) came out to us, we were made up of nine; five and four. The first of the numbers for the Arabs, and the latter for the non-Arabs.
He said:
'Listen, have you heard that after me there will leaders, whoever enters upon them and condones to their lies, and supports them in their oppression, then he is not from me & I am not from him, & he shall not drink with me from the Hawd. And whoever does not enter upon them, nor help them in their oppression, nor condones to their lies, then he is from me, and I am from him, and he shall drink with me at the Hawd.''

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
*The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, โA strong believer is better and dearer to Allah than a weak one, and both are good.*
Adhere to that which is beneficial for you. Keep asking Allah for help and do not refrain from it.
(If you are afflicted in any way), do not say: โIf I had taken this or that step, it would have resulted into such and such,โ but say only: โAllah so determined and did as He willed.โ The word โifโ opens the gates of satanic (thoughts)โ (Muslim).
This hadith goes in line with the Prophetโs reminder to his cousin Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that with patience comes victory, with distress comes relief, and with hardship comes ease.
