✨ Repentance and Hope ✨
In last week's post we read about-
The fourth condition for rectifying mistakes involves restoring people's rights. If someone unlawfully takes something, it must be returned, and injustices must be corrected. Additionally, one should seek forgiveness from those they have wronged. Ibn
Ataa’ emphasizes that while fulfilling these conditions, it’s essential to maintain hope in Allah's mercy, viewing this as an ethical principle rather than a condition.
Sometimes, hope is lost when one asks himself: How should I look forward to Allah’s grace after making all these mistakes? How is Allah going to accept my repentance? This questioning itself is a mistake! A feeling that your mistakes are too great and too many for Allah to forgive them goes against the very belief in Allah, The Merciful. This will make one lose hope in Allah’s mercy and eventually leads to despair and hopelessness.
{And who -other than those who have utterly lost their way- could ever abandon the hope of their Sustainer’s grace?}.(Al Hijr 15:56)
Therefore, if I lose hope, then I am not really relying on Allah. Rather, I am relying on my weak self, limited mind, and humble actions. Of course, this does not mean that I stop working and say that I have hope. This is also wrong. Relying on Allah is a feeling in the heart while the body is in action.
What Ibn Ataa’ says here is that, no matter how grave one’s mistakes are, they should not affect his hope in Allah’s mercy. This is because if one repents sincerely to Allah,Allah surely will accept his/her repentance. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have said:
“A person who has repented of a sin sincerely is exactly like the person who has never sinned at all” (Reported by Ibn Majah).
And he said:
“Allah says: ‘O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind! O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth, I would forgive you, and I shall not mind’”. ( Reported by At-Tirmidhi).
To be continued.... ✍🏻

Sayyid al-Istighfar: The Best Way of Seeking Forgiveness
Allāhumma Anta Rabbī, lā ilāha illā Ant, khalaqtanī wa ana ʿabduk, wa ana ʿalā ʿahdika wa waʿdika mā’staṭaʿt, aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā ṣanaʿt, abū’u laka bi niʿmatika ʿalayya wa abū’u bidhambī fa-ghfir lī fa-innahū lā yaghfiru-dh-dhunūba illā Ant.
(Sayyid al-Istighfār) O Allah, You are my Lord. There is no god worthy of worship except You. You have created me, and I am Your slave, and I am under Your covenant and pledge (to fulfil it) to the best of my ability. I seek Your protection from the evil that I have done. I acknowledge the favours that You have bestowed upon me, and I admit my sins. Forgive me, for none forgives sins but You.
Shaddād b. Aws (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu) narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“The most superior manner of seeking forgiveness is that you say [the above]. Whoever says it during the day with firm belief in it and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise. And whoever says it during the night with firm belief in it and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise.” (Bukhārī 6306)
Istighfar - 1
لَآ إِلٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّيْ كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِيْنَ
Lā ilāha illā Anta subḥānaka innī kuntu mina-ẓ-ẓālimīn.
There is no god worthy of worship except You; You are free from all imperfection. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers. (21:87)
Istighfar - 2
رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي
Rabbi innī ẓalamtu nafsī fa-ghfirlī.
My Lord, I have certainly wronged myself, so forgive me. (28:16)

🫧🪻 The Unparalleled Chastity of Prophet Yusuf (Peace Be Upon Him) 🌼🌴
(Insights from Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him)
Allah Almighty has highlighted the chastity and purity of Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him), which stands as the greatest example.
The reasons for sin that were present at that time were such that rarely anyone might be subjected to them.
These reasons are as follows:
1. He (peace be upon him) was young, and youthful, naturally inclined towards desires.
2. He was unmarried, meaning there was no alternative means to fulfill his desires.
3. He was in a foreign land, generally, a person living among family and friends feels ashamed due to the fear of disgrace, but in a foreign land, this fear diminishes.
4. He was a slave, and generally, a free person despises certain things that a slave does not.
5. The woman involved was of status and beauty, which typically strengthens the urge to sin.
6. The proposition for sin came from the woman herself, so there was no fear of rejection if he had desired it.
7. With the woman's coaxing and desire, there was no longer a fear that she might be testing his chastity.
8. He (peace be upon him) was in the woman's room, where she knew the times and routines, and no one except Allah could see them.
9. The doors were closed, eliminating the fear of anyone suddenly entering.
Despite all these factors, Allah Almighty kept him chaste. He did not heed the woman's invitation, prioritizing the rights of Allah and his master. This was such a situation that if anyone else were tested with it, their condition might have been quite different.
