(Some of) My thoughts on Germ Theory vs. Terrain Theory Since some people are having a discussion about this post, here's my take: How come when somebody gets sick all of a sudden a bunch of the people around that person all come down with the same sets of symptoms around the same time? Well, terrain theory claims it’s a sympathetic physiological response in which your body recognizes the symptoms of others and runs a check, so to speak, to see if you’ve built up a sufficient amount of toxins that a purge/cleanse is required. Thereafter, the symptoms of the cold or flu that develop are actually the manifestations of the purgative process, removing all the built-up junk from within you in the form of coughing, sneezing, sweating, fever, mucus, etc. In much the same manner, when people smell vomit, the body often triggers a sympathetic gag response that sometimes even causes people in the immediate vicinity to vomit, even though they are not sick. By a similar notion, I work with kids every day, have for years, including my own, and I have NOT gotten sick WAY more times than I have when around other sick people. And then there’s doctors and nurses. If sicknesses like colds and flus are transmissible, then people should be sick a lot more often. And "healthy immune systems” don’t explain this because just look at the state of American nurses. Many of these people are absolute pigs. So there’s that too. To be clear, I don't outright "reject" germ theory, I just think there is more going on and the terrain theory people have probably hit on some very important truths. I think cold/flu is varying degrees of the same response, and that the symptoms are the natural purgative process of the body cleansing itself and there are indeed sympathetic triggers which is why it appears to "spread." I further believe that many of what are classified as viral sicknesses are actually caused by parasites of one sort or another; but this is a larger discussion. I don't completely reject the idea there is something transmissible that resembles a virus, but there is a TON of bullshit surrounding Western medicine, just like every other Big Modern Thing, so it's honestly hard (and made that way on purpose) for the lay person to figure out what's actually going on. Probably the vast majority of Western diseases could be fully cured by changes in diet and environment (terrain) imo. Finally, it's another conversation altogether but I think people before the industrial era were probably far MORE healthy than they are today, and that most of the horror stories we hear about how terrible everything was way back when are actually clever advertisements designed to sell modern Western medicine that replaced far superior traditional remedies and overall healthier, more natural lifestyles. @AltSkull48
