Two videos from North Korea First is footage of the city of Sinuiju, which is just across the Yalu River border with China, taken from a drone allegedly in 2020. The other is rural NK taken from a vehicle. Videos are unrelated other than both being from NK. First thing I noticed was the lack of traffic, which could be explained by the covid timeline, but there don’t seem to be too many cars in the second vid either, and in the drone footage it seems like there are lots of children playing outside at the school. Quite clean, and the buildings don’t look all that different much much of what I’ve seen firsthand in Asia. There is a lack of the worst aspects of Capitalism, but unfortunately there is no life or aesthetic appeal to any of the architecture or infrastructure. Cold, lifeless, hard square angles and faded pastels as sorry substitute for artistic or natural beauty. It’s certainly not the “people so starved they’re eating babies” place that I’ve literally read in mainstream news propaganda publications about the country, though. Anyway I thought the vids were pretty interesting. @AltSkull48

People’s social group make-up from the 1930’s until 2024 When you see it laid out like this it is seriously disturbing. I don’t see how it’s possible for a civilization to undergo an upheaval of this magnitude and ever return to what it once was outside of total collapse. However, in your individual life, it is possible to reclaim this. It’s going to be a hell of a struggle and it will take a couple of generations but those who recognize the value of what we once had and restructure their lives to return to it will be the ones left who survive and rebuild the whole thing after it inevitably falls.
