Five Minutes with the Holy Spirit June 19 The Gospel of John tells us something very interesting about the Holy Spirit: “The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit” (John 3:8). When we allow the Holy Spirit to act, we experience something in our lives, but we cannot explain it or control it. It is impossible to predict all that He can do in us, and we cannot measure or calculate it. He goes beyond all our expectations and always surprises us. He can act through joy or sadness; He can give us strong emotions, but He can also work wonders in the midst of dryness. He may take us to places we never imagined, or He may do marvelous things right in the middle of our routine and ordinary life. He acts with total freedom, and we cannot place conditions on Him or demand that He work in a certain way. 🕐 Los Cinco Minutos del Espíritu Santo 🕊️🔥 19 de junio El Evangelio de Juan nos dice algo muy interesante sobre el Espíritu Santo: "El viento sopla donde quiere. Tú oyes su voz, pero no sabes de dónde viene ni a dónde va. Lo mismo sucede con todo el que ha nacido del Espíritu" (Juan 3,8). Cuando dejamos actuar al Espíritu Santo, experimentamos algo en nuestra vida, pero no lo podemos explicar ni lo podemos controlar. No es posible prever todo lo que él puede hacer en nosotros, ni podemos calcularlo o contabilizarlo. Escapa a todos nuestros registros, siempre nos sorprende. Porque él puede actuar en medio de una alegría o de una tristeza; puede regalarnos una gran emoción, pero también puede hacer una obra preciosa en medio de nuestra aridez; puede llevarnos a lugares que nunca imaginábamos, pero también puede hacer maravillas en medio de la rutina y la normalidad. El actúa con total libertad, y nosotros no podemos ponerle condiciones ni exigirle que lo haga de una manera o de otra. Five Minutes with the Holy Spirit June 18 When we read the Bible, we discover something beautiful: that Jesus and holy people allowed themselves to be carried by the Holy Spirit. For example, Luke tells us that after His baptism, “Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness” (Luke 4:1). We are also told that after Philip converted the eunuch and baptized him, “the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again” (Acts 8:39). Suddenly, Philip found himself proclaiming the Gospel in other towns. Those who let themselves be carried in this way are no longer obsessed with what they will do tomorrow, because they know that the Spirit will lead them wherever it is needed, and that will surely be the best place. How beautiful it is when a human being is capable of being moved with such freedom and trust! 🕐 Los Cinco Minutos del Espíritu Santo 🕊️🔥 18 de junio Cuando leemos la Biblia descubrimos algo muy bello: que Jesús y las personas santas se dejaban arrastrar por el Espíritu Santo. Por ejemplo, Lucas nos cuenta que después de su bautismo “Jesús, lleno del Espíritu Santo, se alejó del Jordán y se dejó llevar por el Espíritu al desierto” (Lc 4, 1). También se nos cuenta que, después que Felipe convirtió al eunuco y lo bautizó, “el Espíritu del Señor arrebató a Felipe y el eunuco ya no lo vio más” (Hch 8, 39). De golpe, Felipe se encontró anunciando el Evangelio en otros pueblos. El que se deja llevar de esa manera ya no está obsesionado por lo que hará mañana, porque sabe que el Espíritu lo llevará donde sea necesario, y eso seguramente será lo mejor. ¡Qué bueno cuando un ser humano es capaz de dejarse impulsar con esa libertad y con esa confianza! Five Minutes with the Holy Spirit June 17 The Holy Spirit works everywhere and leaves trails of light in people's lives. He shows no partiality. He does not care if someone is black or white, intelligent or not, famous or unknown, strong or weak. All that matters to Him is that they are human beings, and in every one of them, He carries out His work. That is why we should not think the Holy Spirit is only in some special people, in great scholars, in those who speak well or express themselves beautifully, or in those who have studied much and know many things. The Holy Spirit works in a housewife, in a catechist, in a laborer. He works just as much in a missionary as in a monk, in a child as in an elder. In every person, He manages to leave something good, and He does so in thousands of different ways. That is why we cannot limit Him or say exactly how He works. He acts how He wants, when He wants, and where He wants, and He produces acts of kindness, generosity, and self-giving in every heart. He can pour something beautiful even into a great sinner, beyond their miseries and weaknesses.
