WHEREAS some have lately presumed to Print and Disperse a Pamphlet, Entituled, Publick Occurrences, both Foreign and Domestick Boston, Thursday, Septemb. 25th 1690 Without the least Privity or Countenance of Authority.
The Governour and Council having had the perusal of the said Pamphlet, and finding that therein is contained Reflections of a very high nature: As also sundry doubtful and uncertain Reports, do hereby manifest and declare their high Resentment and Disallowance of said Pamphlet, and Order that the same be Suppressed and called in, strictly forbidding any person or persons for the future to Set forth any thing in Print without Licence first obtained from those that are or shall be appointed by the Government to grant the same.

| 17 |  +1🌿 The lamb of Tartary that grew on a stalk
Imagine a lamb growing from the ground, attached to a stalk by its belly. It could graze around itself, but would die once it had eaten all the grass within reach.
This creature had a name: the borametz, or vegetable lamb of Tartary. For centuries, European authors reported a being halfway between plant and animal, which they placed in the distant lands of Scythia or Tartary.
In 1605, Claude Duret depicted it in his Histoire admirable des plantes, without having observed it himself. Other images show it perched on a stalk like a strange woolly flower.
Dried specimens even circulated in cabinets of curiosities. Some were fashioned from hairy fern rhizomes; confusion between cotton and a kind of wool that grows has also been suggested as an explanation for the legend.
In old books, even the plants of Tartary included creatures that seemed to belong in a fairy tale.

In 1716, a phenomenon occurred that history rarely tells us about - because it has no easy explanation.
On August 4, the Ottoman army surrounded Petrovaradin Fortress. Prince Eugene of Savoy led the Habsburg army into battle.
Even with Eugene’s brilliant military strategy, the odds seemed almost impossible: around 80,000 Habsburg soldiers faced a vastly larger Ottoman force, estimated at up to 300,000 warriors.
The battle began…
And then - out of nowhere - SNOW FELL.
In the middle of August!
The Ottoman forces were caught in freezing weather, completely unprepared.
The Habsburgs won.
On the very site associated with the story, the Church of Our Lady of the Snows still stands to this day as a silent witness to what happened that day.
Was it a miracle?
A freak weather phenomenon?
Or something far more extraordinary?
