From 26-07-2026, 1600 hrs to 27-07-2026, 1600 hrs, Jammu-Srinagar NHW remained closed for 05 hours due to landslides near Dawal Bridge, Udhampur, in addition to the breakdown of 02 vehicles at Digdol and Nachlana.
In view of the inclement weather conditions forecast by the MeT Department, with a likely spell of rainfall over the next few days, the general public is advised to undertake journey only after confirming the status of road from TCU Srinagar/Ramban/Jammu. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page.
TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 28-07-2026
Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)
Today, in the early morning, a massive landslide hit the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) near Dewal Bridge, Udhampur, blocking the carriageway. Traffic has been partially restored, while road clearance work is still underway. The decision regarding vehicular movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) shall be taken tomorrow after assessing the road condition on NH-44 and the prevailing weather conditions.
Commuters are advised to avoid travelling on NH-44 until the highway is declared safe and clear for traffic. Please don't pay heed to rumours and check status of road at Traffic Police Twitter handle, Facebook page, TCUs.

Kashmir - Srinagar - Anantnag NH-244
As per order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/C/2026-27/578-86 dated 09-07-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM/KNG/2025-26/487-88 dated 09-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from Road Maintenance agencies (NHIDCL), LMVs Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed to ply from both sides via Kishtwar towards Srinagar and vice versa on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from PP Parana towards Anantnag between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs, and from Daksum towards Kishtwar between 0900 hrs and 1600 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut-off timing. TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SSG ROAD
As per order issued by the DIVCOM Kashmir vide No. DivCom/Dev/100/2026/4392-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road, i.e., from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Minamarg towards Srinagar only after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies up to 1300 hrs. However, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 1200 hrs and 1700 hrs, and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs.
Motorists are advised to carry anti-skid chains to gain more grip on the slippery road. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SFS convoy moving on the SSG road shall plan their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.
Mughal Road (NH-701A)
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREF), vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to 10 tonnes only) shall be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e., from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimarh (Buffliaz) towards Shopian and from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timings.
As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/ADM-PS/26-27/321-31 dated 03-07-2026, TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.

People are advised to undertake journey only after confirming status of the road from Traffic Control Units as under:

NH-44 update at 0915 hrs
Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) is still closed for vehicular movement as clearance work is going on at Gangroo, Banihal to clear the debris caused by a huge landslide yesterday late evening.
Commuters are advised to avoid travelling until the road is declared safe and clear for traffic, as there is an apprehension of further landslides and shooting stones.
Please don’t pay heed to rumours and check the road status on the Traffic Police Twitter handle, Facebook page, and TCUs.
