After my recent student meet-up these are my observations on students issues:
1. Prelims is becoming a phobia for them.
2. Most of them are clueless about the next step.
3. They want to crack exam but now they are sceptical.
4. Some of them are actively looking for a backup.
5. But they want to try again, they feel they can clear the exam.
6. Now they don't just want to clear the exam but they want to top.
7. They have entered in that phase where they start fearing the failure.
8. They need support. Etc

| 5 | Puneet sir’s right guidance helped me prepare in a structured manner for prelims- how to attempt mock tests, how to analyze and revise them. Sir told us how to attempt the real paper, how to deal with it if paper is tough/absurd, this helped in maintaining calm during the exam.
PYQ and outcome sessions by Sahil sir gave me clarity on which topic to prioritise and how to study that topic , which are my weak areas and how to deal with them.

| 6 | Message for SOMP Mentorship
Preparing for this year’s Prelims wouldn’t have been possible without Puneet Sir. I have been associated with SOMP for a long time, and I can honestly say that Sir’s support has gone far beyond academics.
After missing the final list and then not clearing Prelims, I was mentally exhausted. This year, I had completely given up. I clearly remember telling Sir, “Ab ho gaya hai mera is UPSC se. I am not appearing this time. I just don’t have any fuel left.” My anxiety was at its peak.
Sir patiently listened to me for the first couple of conversations while I kept whining and venting. Then one day, he firmly said, “Is baar hume exam dena hai, break nahi lena hai. We still have a chance to clear.” That confidence slowly started becoming my confidence.
There were days when I would send him long messages about how I was feeling, and sometimes I would even call him while crying. Not once did Sir tell me to “just be positive.” He simply listened. He stayed calm when I couldn’t, reassured me, and slowly brought me back on track. He believed in me at a time when I had completely stopped believing in myself.
More than helping me prepare for Prelims, Sir helped me gather the courage to even sit for the exam. I’ll always be grateful for his patience, kindness, and faith in me.
