How Are You Celebrating This Eid?
This is an opportunity to extend the happiness beyond your home to those in need!
Assalāmu ‘alaykum warahmatuLlāhi wabarakātuH!
As Eid draws near, we are filled with gratitude for the blessings Allah ﷻ has given us. This is a time for joy, celebration, worship and unity — a time when we come together as an Ummah to spread love and compassion.
However, many of our Muslim brothers and sisters in the
Ilorin Correctional Center (Oke Kura) will not have the chance to feel this joy
unless we help them. You and us – by the permission of Allah –are free to attend Eid prayer, move around, and visit families, but some of our brothers and sisters are currently confined in the walls of prison – unable to taste even a sip of this freedom.
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said,
“The parable of the believers in their affection, mercy, and compassion for each other is that of a body. When any limb aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever.” [Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6011, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2586]
Our brothers and sisters in prison need our help to feel the happiness of Eid – and we aim to provide a festive meal for them on this noble day.
The total cost of food and drinks for the estimated inmates on this day is
N500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira). This meal will not only fill their stomachs but also fill their hearts with hope, showing them that they are not forgotten.
