TODAY'S GATE TIPS #3: Friends, you may be at MASTER level in Drilling, Reservoir or production the major subjects, but donot leave any subject unread. Nobody going to ask u how many marks have u got in drilling or reservoir in GATE EXAM when your result is declared.. Only your GATE score will matter the most.. And sometime you donot know, GATE can ask very easy question from the subject u are excelling so hard & mastered and easy to avg question from the portion u hv left unread and in rare cases even weightage of the subjects may also change its trend from the past years.. So prepare accordingly. Do not leave any portion unread. Even for subjects like HSE, Latest Trends just get the basics and study subject based on Gate syllabus. You don't know GATE can ask very easy basic questions from these portion with increased weightage. Best wishes TEAM ACE PETROLEUM🤗

QUES—I have doubt I am confused in joining test series still my syllabus is not completed should I join test series after completing syllabus or before. ANS— No topper can say that he has completed GATE syllabus first, then he appeared for test series. If any person is telling u that, then, he is lying. We have seen toppers securing under 10 ranks just bcose they have started giving tests early. Whether u take test series in early or late u will get same number of tests. There are two types of practise & learning an aspirant can follow- First one by studying whole syllabus first & giving test at very end. Second, by continuously appear for tests once one subject is completed. This second one is better in two ways first if any new concept comes in test series itself, you can learn it early, secondly you will surely encounter new types of numerical approaches that will widen your brain in early stage itself. Then after completing syllabus u can appear for full length paper with motivated mind. All the best.

QUES— What are the plans or the suggestions you would like to give ur juniors about last 100days of preparation??...what is the success mantra that you suggest your juniors to become successful?? ANS-- It depends on the individual level of preparation upto this current day. But there are some constants that are recommended for 100 days. Wherever you are at your preparation level- 1- Detach yourself from negative thoughts & negativity 2- Complete Drilling, Production, Reservoir (DPR) & Formationeval, Testing, EOR (FET) properly. 3- If you have completed above 6 subjects, then do read remaining subjects as well, but donot stress over their vast syllabus. 3- Continuously keep revising whatever you have studied at the month of January 4-Start giving sectional tests as early as possible 5-Start giving full syllabus once you complete above 6 subjects. You can also start giving full syllabus once you have completed DPR & have learnt basics of FET. 6-Attach yourself with positive people or things. All the best

QUES—I will complete Reservoir, Drilling, well testing, 80% of production at end of this month. Please suggest me any strategy to crack the GATE. ANS- If you have completed Reservoir, Drilling, Production, then you should start giving tests of these major subjects. Numerical practise is most important for GATE exams. Hope you are revising maths, apti as well( atleast for 1 hours). Believe me with numerical mastery on these three subjects alone can make you crack the GATEPE. But if you are aiming for good rank then, you should complete Testing, Formation evaluation, and EOR in the next month ie. November, but donot lose touch with already completed subjects & maths, apti; keep revising them in morning or any suitable time. Then, at the end week of nov attempt tests on Testing, formation evaluation and EOR(F,E,T). By this way you have completed 6 important subjects with significant weightage in GATEPE. Now, considering your case, at December first week revise D,R,P again, you can take second week also but you should revise theory and numerical both by 15th NOV. Then, for next week you revise F,E,T. Note here-in the mid of revision, you are advised to attempt 2-3 full syllabus tests as well. By doing so you will get continuous motivation & you will get familiar with the types of questions in other theory subjects also. Then at the end week of DEC you do- exploration, Offshore, and Latest trends(L,E,O). There are very few numericals in these, so that’s why these subjects are kept for the last. After this just revise the whole subjects that you have studied. At this point You can start giving full syllabus tests again by the end of December. Revision is most important at the month of January. Donot study any new formula, strange concepts from the mid of January. Its advisable to complete full syllabus tests by JAN-20 and if you want to leave then just leave 3 full syllabus Tests to be done after 20th jan. Remember you should give more and more tests, but when you start scoring well and you still have some tests remaining in your test series then, leave those tests as it is. You should not give tests just because you are having them in your account. Sometime it happens that when you give full length tests in a hurry, without proper revision then you might get lower score that lower score can create a self-doubt leading to lower your confidence before exam. So, give your tests seriously, and if you have more tests unsolved and lesser time, then you can leave those tests. There is only one solution to avoid this situation that is to start giving test early. Whenever you get confident in one subject, revise it well and appear for its section test. And you can start giving full tests once you get sufficient confidence in [DPR+FET] only.

QUES—Is it worth preparing for gate for so much less vacancy in ONGC. Instead of gate datascience or it related field looks good option. Confused what if after so much hardwork it went waste like for gate2020 and 21 rankers ANS—Its true that lesser vacancies in ONGC for petroleum engineers have created a negativity amongst aspirants. But no hard work leads to a wastage, GATE 2020, GATE 2021 toppers are getting opportunity in ONGC recruitment (however few seats are offered by ONGC). And for a Petroleum Engineering graduate, appearing GATE in other branches is not advisable. Because firstly, you wont be able to sit for any PSUs because your B.Tech and GATE branch should be same to apply for any PSUS, and secondly if you are aspiring for higher studies, there is a good opportunity in GATPE to score higher GATE Score because you are already in touch with the subject, then you can choose any similar branch in MTech just by securing good score. With a good GATEPE rank you can apply for faculty position in pvt colleges or coachings, although this option seems to be not likable by many but if your final goal is to work in an oil PSU via offcampus then you can prepare for GATE with your MTech or with teaching job. If you want to get into ONGC with GATE IN PE, then general candidate should aim to be a GATE Topper with AIR- rank under 15. By securing such rank you will be recruited by ONGC after a successful interview. All the Best.

QUES- Will we make through interview with bad academics and good rank and also vice versa? ANS- There is no relation between academic excellence (or gate scores) with interview marks. You only require above 60% marks in B.Tech and still get 15/15 in ongc interviews. But do note that for final selection, Gate score is added to interview marks for calculating overall ONGC marks. For example If Sandeep has completed B.Tech in Petroleum Eng. & got AIR-6 in GATE, with a GATE score=897 out of 1000. and also he got 14 marks out of 15 in ONGC panel Interview. Then his aggregated marks out of 100 during recruitment will be. (897 X .06) + (20, only B.Tech)+ 14(interview marks)= 87.82/100. & This 87.82 marks will be compared with other candidates. Excellence in interview require CONFIDENCE. Confidence can be built by practise, knowledge and right attitude. All the best.

Dear friends, Roughly 3.5 months or nearly 105 days are remaining for GATE exam. These last 3 months plays very critical role for an aspirant's overall outcome in D day of GATE exam. We have seen & experienced over the past years that large number of students start giving up in this phase, thinking about whatever crap comes in their minds. But you should always remember why you started & give respect & value the time that you have already invested in preparation. If you have any doubts regarding preparation you can directly ask via this google form. We would be happy to guide you to make you get back in right track & will answer your questions by sunday, 24th. https://forms.gle/73Ew5j19MLVFd7ps5
