"Question to build the thought process":You are the principal of a senior secondary school in a Tier 2 city, having the reputation of a man of integrity, compassion and no-nonsense person. The English teacher, who teaches 9th and 10th standard had recently resigned the job due to personal problems. It's already December and Board exams are a couple of months away.A lot of syllabus in the English has not been covered and most of the children are from humble background and dependent on the school teachers for learning. With much effort a good English teacher from a neighbouring district has agreed to join. She is a transwoman. After a few days of joining she complains you that almost all teachers have ostracized her, students say slurs and often write it on the blackboard in teacher's absence. She comes to you that despite her teachings to students that how it is incorrect to discriminate people on any criteria, they are not listening. This has shook her self confidence and hurt self esteem. She feels like resigning. What are the options available,as a Principal? How will you console the English teacher? How will you bring attitudinal and behavioural changes in teachers, staff and students?Suggest some innovative solutions to nurture the warmth between students and rhe English teacher.(20 marks)
Dear friends, please think the structure in your mind. After brainstorming jot it down and post.Reading content shall not help much in the real examination. This brainstorming will really develop the capability to tackle questions.Kant said "Do the right thing".We would like to add "Do the tough thing".
Please do share our initiative if you like it.

Dear friends,
Hope the dip in mercury outside has not dampened your fire of the UPSC preparation. What is required now is an even intense fire as this is the time to take the lead. This post is especially for those who cleared as well failed to clear Mains this time.
Section A-Those who cleared first of all congratulations, now you will get your chance to wear your final armour :'The FORMALS'.Still race is not yet complete, work on your DAF and your way of communicating.Maintain your calm and you shall soon find your name in the magical pdf.
Section B-Those who couldn't clear must be a bit dejected.'Itna mehnat karke bhi naa hua'.Self doubt too may come but friends remember battle belongs to those who believe in themselves.'Khud pe tum na bharosa karoge toh duniya kya karega'.What will matter now is how you gather yourself after this.Talk to your parents, friends, girlfriend, boyfriend and vent out your feelings, you shall feel relieved. Then take a break for a day or two.Do things what you like.eg. movies, bike riding, shopping, cooking, stand up shows, singing, gossiping whatever literally whatever. Then bounce back with renewed vigour and introspect what went wrong. What should be done and how it should be done. Its said that a single ray of hope can dispel the darkness of negativity,so even if it helps one soul reading this post we shall feel our purpose is achieved.A few lines from the poem Traveler, There Is No Path by Antonio Machado to boost your spirits{We are not talking about liquors:)}-
Everything passes on and everything remains,
But our lot is to pass on,
To go on making paths,
Paths across the sea
....................................
“Traveler, there is no path,
The path is made by walking…”

“A man’s ethical behaviour should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties and needs; no religious basis is necessary”
- Albert Einstein
Bottom line:Ethics is for the survival of human beings and gives a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. It gives them trust and credibility.Rationality is the basis of ethics and human beings should be driven by reason to promote 'higher good'.Religious basis for following ethics on the basis of divine command is not required, although religion precedes ethics.

Dear friends, have you qualified for Civil Services Interview 2022:

Avoid him who talks sweetly before you but tries to ruin you behind your back,
for he is like a pitcher of poison with milk on top.
Bottom line:One should choose their friends carefully in life.A real friend stands in adversity, however people with impure intentions have sugar coated words to extract benefits. One should always have their guards on and exercise their wisdom in dealing with people.

“The moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in shadows of life, the sick, the needy, and the handicapped.”
― Hubert H. Humphrey
Bottom line:Government is expected to bring a transformational change in the lives of the citizens. The edifice of a State stands on the human welfare. Our Constitutional ethos,Preamble and DPSP are the moral compass which guides the government in ethical policy making.

'Question for building the thought process':The key to success to MGNREGS is an element of flexibility for taking up works suited to local requirements.Critically comment.
Please do comment your views, try to think in a structured format. You can write in brief how will you introduce, body part, way forward and conclusion.(Gs 4 utilisation of public funds)
Please don't think that you are not equipped to answer now or you will first gather content and then think or you will do that when you join a test series.Trust us,these excuses we generate to escape from the tough job to think.Reading content and even memorising is quite easy compared to the task of thinking a question in a structured manner.

Hello friends,
It has been long since we spoke.I have faith that you must be preparing well.Though on some days you might feel low and not feel like studying but that's ok and overall your preparation would be fine.
We have been thinking that we have posted till date decent volume of content ("EDGE"),but just memorizing content is not enough. So we think that we should post some thoughtful questions on few days(so that you can develop your thought process and contemplate which helps immensely in answer writing).Thinking and contemplating on questions is seen as an arduous task by many aspirants but WE,THE ASPIRANTS [you :)] are here to do the things which others find it a tough nut to crack.
What say?Do comment.

Book quote:Transforming Systems- Why The World Needs a New Ethical Toolkit by Arun Maira,Accelerated environmental deterioration, systemic inequities and segregation within societies pose an ongoing threat for collective human history.Three important tenets for anyone aspiring to make the world a better place- systems thinking, ethics of citizenship, and deep listening. There needs to be a paradigm shift from the traditional economic mantras of human civilization that encourage human beings to be selfish and relentlessly pursue profit above everything else. The governance of companies and countries need a renovated framework of ethical reasoning. Our future is unpredictable and is constantly metamorphosing. The businesses, governments and societies need to collaborate effectively in order to combat the formational shifts that are taking place.

Quote from book:"As the captain of a ship is bound to be the last man to leave his ship in case of wreck and to share his last crust with the sailors in case of famine, so the manufacturer, in any commercial crisis, is bound to take the suffering of it with his men, and even to take more of it for himself than he allows his men to feel; as a father would in a famine, shipwreck
or battle, sacrifice himself for his son."

Bottom line: A civil servant should adhere to the standard of anonymity and operate behind the curtains. It is the political executive who takes the credit for the good work or is responsible to the citizens if things turn wrong.Civil servant should not have a colonial mai-baap attitude but rather a humble civil servant willing to serve the public without expectation of extraneous rewards.

Bottom line: Elections are a costly affair.Advertisements, rallies, star campaigners, pamphlets, posters etc. need huge funds. However, funds should be from legitimate sources.Milan Vaishnav notes that electoral bonds invert the concept of transparency and openness in political funding. This may erode the very edifice of democracy.
