1) SGX NIFTY signals a negative start for the Indian Stock Market
- Nifty futures on the Singapore Exchange traded 35 points lower at 18,294 signalling that the Indian Stock Market is headed for a negative start.
2) Debt Ceiling talks pull indices back to the bears
- US stocks fell on Tuesday as investors await any progress on a potential debt ceiling deal as the deadline of June 1 quickly approaches. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed about 336 points lower, ending near 33,012, while S&P 500 shed and NASDAQ shredded 0.6% and 0.2% respectively, with all three indexes ending near the session lows.
3) Oil prices take a dip
- Oil futures dipped on Tuesday as weaker-than-expected economic data in China and the United States offset a forecast of higher global demand from the International Energy Agency (IEA). Brent crude futures settled 32 cents lower to $74.91 a barrel; while the U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude edged down 25 cents to $70.86
