Hey all. It is Sam’s birthday on 9th June. He is still a political prisoner in HMP Hull and I wondered if you would all join me in helping to fill his cell with birthday cards. I know I’m a bit early with it still being two weeks away, but he has friends abroad who I thought might like to send him a card, and even within England it takes them about a week or so for them to actually deliver his post within the prison. I know some petitions are a bit lame and we feel the government are never going to care so why bother, but there’s a very important reason for signing this one. Sam’s probation team (who are responsible for his release) have told him they’ve seen the public’s response to his sentence. If we can get a few thousand signatures on this (and we’ve already reached 1000 very quickly) it could help strengthen the case that there is public pushback to his sentence. I know it’s a big ask, but please ask your friends and family members to sign it too, and share it on social media if you feel you can. This week, I reached 8k of the 10k fundraiser goal for Once Upon a Time in Minnesota, my next film project, and also locked in a shooting start date with the cast and crew for October.
