This is a cover of Lucifer's The Light of The World by Myrkur. I know many of you have a lot of "opinions" about that band but before you so freely share them with the world, please allow me to share the following: I may "write" a song you find inspiring but it is only powerful in the way that it moves other people to act. The original folk song belonged to no one. It was everyone's and no one's at the same time. The advent of the music industry has dissolved what folk music (and music in general) is and was intended to be. Songs that matter to us all, by us all, and most importantly for us all should remain in the public domain to be understood without a concept of commerce. This song means the world to me. I did not write it for "money". I don't believe that I am the author of it so much to discourage this cover or any other. This song is our call, to those who feel devoted to a torch of wisdom illuminating our path. It should be covered. Played over and over again for everyone in every corner of the world to hear and enjoy and help them understand what their path is... I am a Luciferian and I will always believe in the tenants that I adhere within that realm. The tenants that I hold are contained in the lyrics of this song, and have found a permanent home in my soul. I wake with it, I go to sleep with it. It cannot be separated from my being. I hope that it will be covered by anyone brave enough to embrace the truth of the words held within this song because they mean everything to me.... I encourage every last one of you brave enough to do so as well. With all that said, I find this song to be the most beautiful rendition ever done. I normally cringe at most covers of LTLOTW and I can honestly say, this is not one of them. Amalie is a brilliant musician and talented far beyond her years, and I am honored to have her contribution to this what I consider a continuation of the folk tradition.
