🎧 DJ & SOUND HEALER OF THE WEEK: MANTIS Mantis (aka Kamalei) is a kanaka maoli, born and raised on the island of O‘ahu. No stranger to the ecstatic dance floor, his love for movement and music as medicine inspires him to create an electric and heart-opening experience for all movers. Mantis weaves live instrumentation—such as the didgeridoo, Native American flute, and percussion—into his sets to create an ethereal and primal soundscape. Drawing on his background in sound healing, he curates expansive journeys that bridge deep emotion and ecstatic rhythm. His music selection spans shamanic downtempo, tribal house, Afro-fusion, electronic dance, stanky-face bass, and organic world rhythms, unfolding as a pulsing, hypnotic journey that moves both bodies and hearts. In addition to DJing, Mantis is also known for his Primordial Sound Meditation experiences. Blending cross-cultural instruments with modern digital textures, he alchemizes both worlds into a harmonious blend of energy that invokes peace and love in all who receive. His deep awareness of the healing power of sound has led him to become a skilled craftsman of ancient indigenous instruments, such as the didgeridoo and Native American-style flute.
