As I mentioned earlier, if the Nifty 50 starts breaking below the critical 24,000 level, we could see significant selling pressure in small- and mid-cap stocks.
The Nifty 50 is now very close to the 24,000 mark. This is largely about retail investor psychology. If the Nifty 50 decisively breaks below 24,000, it could trigger panic selling across small- and mid-cap stocks as retail investors become increasingly nervous.
The Nifty 50 is currently underperforming because large-cap stocks are witnessing relatively weak earnings growth.
However, I believe any panic-driven correction in small- and mid-cap stocks could be temporary. Once the selling pressure subsides, the small- and mid-cap indices should recover strongly and eventually make new all-time highs.π₯
