In Russia, every year hot water is turned off for one or two weeks. For example, in the apartment building where I live, we've been without hot water for almost two weeks now. Some people buy special water heaters and install them in their bathrooms to use during this period. Others boil water on a stove, pour it into a tub and take showers using a ladle/соuch. That's what I'm doing 😄 So the joke is that all year round the guy had no problem with hot water. But when summer came and they cut off the supply, he realized his ex-girlfriend took away both the tub and the ladle about a year ago — exactly when he needed them most!
