This, they said, happens alongside home demolitions and poor maintenance of infrastructure in Palestinian areas. The Governorate stressed that this plan is part of a larger series of settlement projects in the neighborhood, especially in Umm Haroun and northern Sheikh Jarrah, where there are growing threats to remove Palestinian families to make way for settlers.
The statement also pointed out that international silence on these issues lets Israeli authorities keep doing these actions and stressed that defending Jerusalem is now a legal, humanitarian, and moral issue that needs urgent attention.

Naseer Abu Thabet, director of the Settlement Observatory, warned that the situation in the occupied West Bank has taken a dangerous turn.
He said settler attacks are no longer occasional, but have become more organized, violent, and directly aimed at Palestinians. He shared troubling statistics: since the start of 2026, settlers have killed about 16 Palestinians, already more than the 15 killed in all of 2025.
