In UPSC Mains examinations penalty Marks are deducted for violation of commission instructions. Like writing religious signs on answer sheet, directly/ indirectly appealing to examiner etc. And penalty Mark can be such high that can exclude you from final list. #upsc #eupsc

Good morning 🌄
Good morning 🌄

Ques: WHAT TO DO AFTER PRELIMS 2022? Ans: GET OVER YOUR ‘EXAM HANG-OVER’ If you attempted Prelims recently, you may find yourself obsessing about your score and fantasizing about the results. You will have looked through the answer-key, made multiple calculations and felt an extreme of emotions- elation at the thought of clearing Prelims it and a crushing despondency if you don't. You may also experience a feeling of extreme relief now that the dreaded D-Day is behind you. This intoxicating mix of emotions is called Exam ‘hang-over’ and it is a normal reaction to what you went through. Every human has an innate desire to be rewarded for their hard-work. Attempting Prelims is hard work. Preparing for it is harder still. But the exam ‘hang-over’ with its heady effects, is a luxury you can not afford much longer. Why? Because if you don't start preparing for Mains immediately, you will damage your chances of clearing the exam in all future attempts. Here’s why- 1 If you clear the Prelims this year and wait for the result, you will have wasted about 30% of the time remaining for the Mains which given the vastness of the syllabus and variety of subjects, will deal a death-blow to your chances of clearing the Mains. 2. If you don't clear the Prelims this year and don't prepare for mains now, you will find yourself exactly in the situation described in 1 above an year from now. Because soon it will be time to focus on GS and current affairs and there will be no room left for Essay, Ethics, Optional and answer-writing- all of which you can not clear the Mains without. The intelligent question you SHOULD be asking now is this- What should I do now to maximize my chances of clearing the exam with a top-rank either this year or the next? The obvious answer is that you should begin focusing on the Essay, Ethics and Optional Subject and try to do everything in your power to get VERY good at them for the next 2–3 Months. Remember that Prelims is a battle. It is not the war. The war is clearing the exam with a top rank and it is ok if you need to lose a few battles in order to win it.
