India is implementing stricter regulations concerning SIM card issuance, with telecom operators now mandated to decline new connections to individuals possessing nine or more active SIM cards, as per a recent directive from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). The nationwide limit for mobile connections per individual is set at nine, with a reduced limit of six applicable in the regions of Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, and the Northeast. Prior to issuing any additional SIM cards, operators are obligated to verify the status of existing connections.
