我係Ricker Choi, 以前乜嘢政治都唔理, 離開香港三十幾年連香港親戚朋友都冇乜聯絡. 但係2019你哋團結一齊抗爭, 喚醒好多我哋呢啲住喺外國嘅港豬,最近我寫信比被囚禁的香港手足,非常感動地講咗句"香港永遠是我家". 雖然我咁多年淨係返過香港兩三次, 但係呢一年見到你哋嘅勇氣, 令我視自己為香港人而驕傲! 希望可以用啲藝術來表達我對你哋嘅敬佩. Admin: @RickerChoi Group Chat: t.me/HKRevolutionArtChat

Four months later, she presented a public art performance called “Memory Eraser” at the National Theater in Prague, during which she was held in a 2-meter white cube for 24 hours. (https://shorturl.at/9g2ok) Her performances explore the boundaries between political and personal identities and are exhibited throughout Europe. She was also invited to be a speaker at Forum 2000 and has been reported on by several major international press outlets, including Hong Kong Free Press, Sankei Shimbun, The Guardian, and The Diplomat.

Wai Ting Loretta Lau - Memory Eraser - 24 hour performance in National Theatre, Prague

‘Memory Eraser’ symbolises the journey and time in prison. This project aims to continue the story of the bright and free spirit of humanity. It describes the similarity of both democratic journeys from different sides of the world. Compared to China, 1989 was a long awaited victory after the failure of 1968 in Czech Republic. In this time period, countless of people were tortured by the regime and unable to voice out, but there were people like Václav Havel and Liu Xiaobo who never gave up their hope till the right time came with the freedom in hand. From the 1989 worldwide democratic demonstration until now, people can never forget the hunger for freedom.

Introducing performance artist Loretta Lau, who will join me at 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗘𝗢𝗣𝗟𝗘 𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗗 - 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮, 𝟳 𝗽𝗺 - see https://www.rickerchoi.com/concerts for details. Loretta Lau was born in British Hong Kong. She worked as a high school art teacher for seven years and witnessed the significant changes that occurred after Hong Kong was handed over to China following British colonization. Since 2018, she has been living in Prague, pursuing her master’s degree in Fine Art. Art and politics have been inseparable from Loretta’s life since the start of the Hong Kong Movement in 2019. In May 2021, she became the director of the 我地 NGO DEI, a Hong Kong art and culture center based in the Czech Republic and the Netherlands. Her first performance, entitled “Letter to My People,” took place in June, 2019, at DOX, where she was shaved as a symbol of an impending prison sentence. (https://shorturl.at/94wzN)
