Welcome. *** “I am so confused I have even forgotten my own password!” The young lady said, “Please, let me go, at least I have my phone back.” Kimani then looked at the guy who now was on his feet bleeding from his nose. “If this is your phone, enter the password.” The guy picked the phone which was now on Kimani’s hands. He entered the phone password perfectly. He then showed them the screen and said, “The image here is a black and white image of me and my son.” That was when people suddenly realized the truth. Some began walking away. The lady still insisted that that was her phone. Another guy tried to take the phone while saying, “Give the woman her phone! We know these tricks!” He even shoved the guy with the phone hard throwing him on the ground. Jimmy however approached the guy that shoved the other, looked him in the face looking upwards as he was taller and then, he lifted him off the ground by his waist and slammed him hard on the floor before saying, “You cannot steal from an innocent person as we watch! You seem to be with this girl and both of you deserve to be lynched to death.” However, not wanting much dramas knowing their day was ruined, Kimani told the guy to take his phone and go. The guy didn’t want any further trouble and so, he picked a motorbike and together they rode away. The lady also walked away with the guy that had shoved the phone owner to the ground. Then, as they stood there, they saw Elisha whom they perfectly knew from his photos walking with two police officers towards the direction of his apartment. “Let us get the hell out of here.” Kimani said going to pay fast for their wine while wondering: did Elisha somehow see us trying to break into his house? Could it be the padlock has a way to send a message to its owner that someone is trying to break in? >>The SAGA continues>> Story by Anthony Kiarie. BLACK & WHITE LOVE free episodes ended already. She was feeling bad that the men she was slowly falling in love with, who was also financing her lifestyle, was to get robbed. But, being that it was her duty to set him up, she had to do so and let the rest happen. Renee also knew that she was probably going to break up with Elisha after the theft as she would feel so guilty seeing him again after the theft. Kimani was with Mark, Simon, Jimmy and Anita. Anita also wore a trouser that made her look like a man. This time, Simon drove the van they were to use to carry the items back to Kimani’s place. After monitoring the apartment for a while, they knew that in the mid afternoon, most people were not home and those that were home were indoors doing domestic chores or relaxing. Sure enough, when they got to the apartment where Elisha was now staying, everything seemed silent. Even the road next to the gate was not as busy, with a few motorbikes moving up and down after every few minutes. Simon parked the car and then, they walked into the house through the main gate one by one as if they were people who belonged there. The house was just after the staircase on the second floor making it easier to access. As usual, Kimani produced the key and went for the padlock that was concealed inside the door. He tried the padlock but the key wasn’t going inside. He tried 2 more copies of the key but none worked. That was when he decided to look inside by lifting the small lid. What Kimani saw made his heart to sink. The padlock was entirely different from the one they had a key for. Worse, the padlock had two holes, one on the side and another at the bottom. It was a totally new model which they have never seen. “Oh! Man! This girl has messed us.” Kimani muttered to himself. Anita, who was walking nearby on the corridor asked, “What is it?” “There is nothing for us here, we go back.” Kimani said. They all went back to the van. Simon sat behind the wheel and drove away slowly. Kimani was more than disappointed. “We can't really blame Renee, she did her part, Elisha simply changed the padlock, probably he switches locks every now and then.” Simon said as he drove. “This is something a few people do. It helps to stop thieves like us.” Kimani said with a painful smile. He was feeling so defeated that day. “So, what next?” Jimmy asked. “Nothing.” Kimani said. “Jimmy thinks he can pull the door open.” Mark said looking at Jimmy with a smile. Jimmy laughed and said, “I am strong but not that much.” “I am joking.” Mark said. They then stopped by a small wines and spirits joints to buy some wine to go home with. As they were buying, they heard a woman suddenly shouting, “Thief! Thief! Thief! He has stolen my phone!” Everyone turned to see who was the thief the woman was talking about. But, the guy that was being pointed at the thief instead of running away, he stood there holding the phone. “He has my phone!” The woman said and tried to take the phone. Some people came fast and began raining kicks and blows on the guy that appeared totally helpless and surprised. However, Kimani acted fast and motioned his friends to shield the guy that was being beaten. The woman now had the phone. “Stop! Stop! Just stop!” Kimani said. He also got a kick on his buttocks but the people stopped beating the guy who now had a bloody nose and a red eye. “Give me that phone.” Kimani told the young lady who wanted to go away. When she tried to walk away, Jimmy blocked her way imposingly forcing her to stop.

“This is Nairobi.” Simon said, “Everyone minds their own business. Even if you die, no one would bother with you long as their life is going on as normally.” “We can all agree that today we nearly got screwed.” Kimani said sipping from his glass of wine. He told me that he was to use it in case gangsters broke in and intended to kill him.” Leticia said. “Was he a gangster? Since that is typical with people who suspect that they might get killed any time.” Kimani asked. “He was a gold dealer. Nigerian but has lived in Kenya for 10 years.” Leticia said. “Wow! And why did you leave him?” Anita asked, “He must be rich.” “I didn’t leave him, he left me. He found a more beautiful girl, younger and probably with a tighter one than mine, so, what was I to do? I just accepted that I am dumped and moved on with life.” Leticia said. Everyone laughed at where she said, ‘a tighter one than mine.’ They knew what that meant and it made it sound even funnier. >>The SAGA continues>> Story by Anthony Kiarie. After some silence, Kimani said, “I am calling Simon and let him know that we are trapped, I will also give him location. He can figure out how to get us out here. They can even come with something to cut the windows.” --- Simon was going about his daily hustle where he worked as a loader during the day for an Indian who supplied goods in wholesale to various retain outlets. He got an incoming call from Kimani as he was loading items to a lorry and he went behind the lorry to pick the call. He knew that Kimani and a few others were out to steal and was expecting nothing but success since the house’s owner was travelling. Kimani explained everything to Simon. They agreed that Simon look for a welder to come and cut some of the grills to allow them to escape. The only challenge was getting power source for the cutting machine. When Kimani discussed that with Mark, Mark told them, “I know one by the name Energy Bean that can operate a metal cutter, the welder can carry it, it is portable.” “We don’t have such in our store.” Kimani said when Mark showed him a photo of the device which was able to supply enough power for a small welding machine and a metal cutter. ---- An hour later, Simon and the welder rode using the welder’s motorbike to the house where the four were trapped. They found the gate slightly open and they simply got in. Kimani saw them from the bedroom window and signaled to them. “Hurry up guys!” Kimani said as they began to cut the grills from the window. Very fast, the welder cut the metals of the entire window. Being that the windows were sliding windows, that turned into a full door that was just a foot from the floor which they could use to get out of the house. Kimani was the first to stop out. “We can use this hole to take the items out.” Jimmy said. “We have less time.” Kimani said as they got busy removing the items using the window. “How did the doors lock us in?” Jimmy asked as they carried the fridge with Simon while Mark, Kimani and Sasha helped to carry more items. “I never knew about this device!” Kimani said looking at the portable battery by the name Energy Bean which could operate such a welding device. “We use them to go to off sites where there is no electricity. It can also be used to supply electricity in a house when there is blackout.” The welder told them while focusing on smoking his cigarette not bothering to help them to steal. Being that he was being paid Kshs 4,000, that was more than enough for the day. ---- “Some houses are designed that way. That means that the house sensed that you are intruders and locked you inside. It has nothing to do with witchcraft, that is pure technology.” Leticia told them that night as they were partying. Everyone was there except Jimmy who was home since his mother was home too. Anita even said, “I miss Jimmy here.” “He is a school boy, he has to be home at other times.” Kimani said. “We should also get our own Energy Bean, that device can help us a lot with our work.” Simon told them, “If it wasn’t for the welder.” “What are the chances that the welder will report us?” Anita asked. When everyone turned to look at her, she said, “I mean, he is not one of us but saw what we did back there. He know that we were out stealing.”

A hired killer got into Kinyua's house but things did not go as expected. Keep subscribing to the saga BLACK AND WHITE LOVE ----send Kshs 100 to 0711403777. Feeling a little panicky, they went to check the windows. Even though they were sliding windows, they all had strong grills which would not break at all with human strength. Jimmy even tried to pull one of them but it was like pulling an electric pole. It didn’t move at all. “Try the ceiling we need to get out.” Mark said. That was when they realized that the roof was a solid concrete slab even though the bungalow had a slanting roof on top. “Guys, it looks like we are trapped in here, the roof is rock solid, all slab. The windows have grills, the doors won’t open and it is like there isn’t a way out.” Kimani said. Jimmy however began to check the wardrobes, moving clothes to check inside. “We don’t need anything else, Jimmy, we should first focus on getting out.” Kimani told Jimmy. “Ok, master, but, I have watched movies where some houses have hidden doors inside wardrobes, so, let me check just in case.” Jimmy said literally feeling the solid wall behind the clothes. Sasha laughed and said, “Don’t be an idiot, this isn’t a movie, boy, this is real life and we are trapped, we better look for tools to make a hole through the wall or we will get caught in here, or stay until owner comes back, that is if at all he will come back sooner.” “Let him check.” Mark said, “In fact, I am joining him, let me check from the other rooms, check the floor too.” >>The SAGA continues>> Story by Anthony Kiarie. This is how everything should go!” Kimani said as they got into one of the houses where they had planned to steal for almost three months. Things were perfect since the owner had flown out of the country and the house was in its own compound at the outskirts of Machakos town. The house was a large bungalow. There were so many items that could be stolen. The electronics there were of the best quality, including a huge TV whose market value was almost 400,000. Since the table room was so spacious, they decided to arrange everything in the middle. They brought to the middle of the room all electronics, toys, kitchen appliances, 3 coffee tables from several living rooms in the bungalow and clothes that seemed still new. “This is a family house.” Mark said as he checked around the bedrooms. “No, seems like a home where someone use to hide from the government after doing dark deals.” Kimani said. That day, they had come with Jimmy and and Sasha who had been wanting to go to one of the ‘harvesting’ trips. She was wearing a baggy trouser, jeans, in order to look like a man. The only thing that made her different was the size of her chest even though she also wore a baggy sweater and a cap on top. Sasha even told them that she was making for them a cup of coffee as they harvested everything possible. Once the coffee was ready, Sasha served it and they came to sit down and enjoy. Being that the house didn’t’ even have CCTV cameras, they weren’t worried of being caught easily. Sasha sat next to Kimani as they took their coffee. Jimmy sat down scrolling his phone while Mark walked around with his coffee from room to room to see if there was anything else they coul take. “The bed is a nice one.” Mark said coming back from the master’s bedroom. Sasha jokingly told Kimani, “Can we try the bed?” Kimani smiled and said, “No, no time for that.” He knew she wanted some sex already. She was so excited at the idea of being there stealing such that it was making her horny. “Come with me, I will make it quick with you.” Mark told Sasha smiling at her. Sasha however turned to look at Jimmy and said, “Maybe him.” Jimmy acted like he didn’t know what she meant. He did not want to cause jealousy among the guys being that Sasha was the most beautiful of the girls. “Come on! Jimmy! I feel like it!” Sasha said moving to sit next to him. Jimmy saw how Kimani was giving him a side eye and said, “Not now, later.” “Ok, but I want now, to test that bed.” Sasha said. She had seen the bed which was like that of a king. Kimani finished his coffee and said, “Time to go. Make sure to carry the items fast to the waiting car.” They had a Nissan Van which was ready and parked at the gate. Being that the place was still being developed with many plots which had houses under construction, they didn’t feel bothered much as there were almost no people walking around there. Kimani went to unlock the door with the key they had used to get in. However, the door only clicked and didn’t unlock. He tried a few more times wondering if he was doing something wrong. “I don’t know, we used this key…” Kimani said while turning to look at Mark and Jimmy who were already holding a big fridge ready to run with it to the car outside the gate. “Come on! Hurry up!” Mark said. “The door won’t unlock.” Kimani said. Mark and Jimmy placed the fridge down. Mark tried the keys but the door remained totally shut. Jimmy also tried it but nothing worked. Feeling concerned, Sasha said, “Try the back door then.”

“Dude! You got so big!” Kinyua told the guy but his eyes were all on Martina as he seemed to wonder: how did a naive boy like Kinyua end up with a mzungu wife? “Yes, got a good job, money came and now here I am.” The guy said sounding so happy with his life. “Tell me that you are also married.” Kinyua told the guy. “Yes, I am.” The guy said. “With my children I suppose.” Kinyua said. The guy was silent for a while and then he said, “Not yet, we went to see a doctor over it and, I am sad that he told me that I have low sperm count, but, I am working on it. He even advised me to lose weight and stop taking alcohol.” Kinyua was surprised at his openness and he told him, “It is well, brother, just follow the doctor’s instructions and you will be ok.” “What about you?” The guy asked Kinyua. “Just got married, we will get a kid soon.” Kinyua said, not going into details of his dramatic life more so with Marline. Later as they drove back home, Kinyua told Martina that Cartelina was planning on selling the vehicle to them at a much lower cost than she planned to sell it. Martina, who was driving, excitedly told Kinyua, “Wow! Go ahead and get it! I am in love with it already. It feels like mine now.” “I am meeting her tomorrow we negotiate.” Kinyua said. “It is ok, dear, if the money you have isn’t enough, let me know.” Martina said. By the time they got home, it was already dark. They also came home to a blackout and it was all dark except for the security lights outside which were solar powered. Once they settled in the house, Kinyua lit the emergency light he usually used to light the table room. Martina jokingly said, “Light candles instead, and we have a candle lit dinner as we cuddle each other.” “Unfortunately, I don’t have candles here.” Kinyua said. “I am just joking, in fact, I want us to just go to bed and make love, we should not focus on making a baby, or babies.” Martina said going to the kitchen and drinking a glass of water. She then went to the balcony, picked the clothes that were there and went with them to their bedroom. She then used her phone’s flashlight to fold the clothes and arrange them in a wardrobe. There being nothing else to do, Kinyua went to their bedroom with his portable lamp. “I hate blackouts.” Kinyua said. “Where I come from, blackouts are almost nonexistent.” Martina said. “We have them often here, but of late they are becoming too much.” Kinyua said, paused talking and then continued, “When it is all dark like this, bad things happen. People get mugged.” “I can imagine how dark it is on that place where I met those young men.” Martina said. Then, they felt a soft click that was magnified by the fact that it was so silent all around. It sounded like a door being open. Martina turned to look at Kinyua and asked him, “Did you lock the door?” “Yes.” Kinyua said. He was 100% sure that he locked the door. He could see that Martina suddenly seemed scared and said, “Let me go and check.” Kinyua walked to the table room using his phone to see around. He got to the living room and was surprised to see their door wide open. He went to the door feeling his heart beating wildly, folding a fist ready to punch the living days out of someone. He knew he was strong enough from days of working out and didn’t fear anyone. “Hi homie, not so smart, huh! Raise your hands and turn around, do not do anything stupid, I am a trained marksman and I will blow your black brains to hell if you try anything stupid with me.” A voice said behind Kinyua, speaking in a cold, emotionless and calm tone that sent chills down Kinyua’s spine. >>The thrilling DRAMA continues >> Story by Anthony Kiarie Copyright © Anthony Kiarie. Black and White Love: CHP 10 – Hope and darkness “After all the physical evaluations, the gynaecologist told me that I am ok to go ahead and get pregnant. He told me that my body is fine, including the results from blood work and hormonal profile.” Martina told Kinyua on their way home, many hours later. The time was 4 pm and they hadn’t eaten anything. “Ok, I won’t ask much medical details, the rest will happen naturally.” Kinyua said already hopeful with Martina. “Yes, and he injected me with some hormones to possibly induce multiple ovulation, and told me to listen to my body. The hormones were injected right into my ovary, ouch! That hurt!” Martina said while driving around Nyeri town. One Matatu suddenly overtook them, made a sudden stop in front to pick passengers forcing Martina to slam on the emergency brakes coming so close to crushing into the back of the matatu. “Dammit!” Martina said, “So rough!” “Don’t even talk about it, Nairobi is even worse.” Kinyua said. “Well, all cities have rough drivers, London too has some who can drive you nuts.” Martina said while waiting for the matatu to go since it was completely blocking the way. They drove to a restaurant where they decided to eat an enough meal so that they won’t have to eat anything else that evening. They picked a corner table where they could see outside. Shortly, a waiter came to serve them. They both ordered mataha and meat stew, and a glass of sour milk each. As they sat there to eat, some people kept on looking at them and whispering something. “They all don’t believe that you have a white girl.” Martina said softly while looking into Kinyua’s eyes. “Yes, and some are just jealous.” Kinyua said. Martina smiled and said, “Ok, let them continue being surprised.” “Now that the doctor has said you are ok, no more wine, muratuna, munazi and such.” Kinyua said jokingly, suddenly changing the topic. Martina smiled and said, “Yes, no more such. But, it is odd that some girls drink heavily while pregnant and still get healthy babies.” “Yes, but for the sake of everything, let us not drink alcohol. I also will not.” Kinyua said. “Ok, but we can enjoy those wines with zero alcohol at home, right?” Martina said. “Yes.” Kinyua replied. As they were talking, Kinyua got an incoming call from Cartelina. He received it while they sat there and she asked, “My dear, why haven’t you returned my car?” Kinyua didn’t know what to say. However, Cartelina added, “It is ok, keep it a little bit more, I am also planning on selling it, I am sure you two have test driven it enough to know if it is good.” “How much are you selling it?” Kinyua asked just loud enough for Martina to hear as they were speaking in English. “Was planning to sell it half a million, but, for you, we can negotiate nicely.” Cartelina said. “Ok, perhaps we should meet and talk about it. I am with my sweetheart having a dinner.” Kinyua said. “Oh! Sorry for interrupting, yes, let us meet tomorrow. For now, enjoy, and make her get cute babies for you soon.” Cartelina said and immediately terminated the call. Martina laughed and said, “I heard her, I heard her, crazy girl!” Kinyua laughed and said, “Yes, she wants us to make cute babies.” “The doctor told me that it is now your work to dig it until it bears fruits of our labor.” Martina said laughing even more. “I will, you know I can dig it.” Kinyua said. They finished eating and Kinyua paid. They then drove around a little bit more before stopping at a super market to do some shopping. “Magunas, what a nice name.” Martina said as they walked into the supermarket. While walking around the isles, Kinyua bumped on an old school mate whom they hadn’t met in almost a decade. The guy had gotten so fat such that Kinyua only remembered him from a scar he had on his forehead after falling with a bicycle when he was a young boy.

“Who is your husband?” The guy in front asked. “Kinyua.” Martina said. The moment she said Kinyua, the guy in front who seemed like the leader of the three suddenly smiled and said, “Oh! Kinyua! I know him, good friend of mine. Because of him, we are letting you go.” “Ok.” Martina said surprised at the sudden turn of events. “Go.” The guy told Martina. Martina had no idea if indeed the guys knew Kinyua, or even feared him but she was glad that they let her go. She got to the shop and as she was buying, she saw some people really looking at her like they were surprised to see a white girl there. The shop keeper even asked her, “So, you have come to live in Africa?” “Yes.” Martina said. She then narrated to him how some guys tried to steal from her but let her go after she told them of Kinyua. “Those are cowards. They thought he will come and beat them. They dropped out of high school and they are trying to learn how to steal, we will soon burn them to death.” The shop keeper, who was a middle aged man, said. “Don’t, just take them back to school.” Martina said. Martina went back and narrated to Kinyua everything. From the description, Kinyua knew one of the boys, the leader of the three. “He has borrowed from me money for cigarettes and muguka, the leaves they were chewing. They know me well.” Kinyua said. Martina laughed and said, “Anyway, if they got physical with me, unless they stab me with a knife, I was about to beat the crap out of them. They seem so weak already and they are all high on something.” Kinyua laughed and said, “They really should detox…” “Oh! You just reminded me, the detox.” Martina said. “Yes, it is why I mentioned it, we are going to a health center owned by my boss. We will get someone to advise us there on how to go about it.” Kinyua told Martina. The time was 10 am. They got ready fast and left immediately. They still were using Cartalina’s car as she hadn’t requested them to take it back. At the health center, they were received by a nurse Kinyua knew so well. “Bupe! Oh! What a nice name!” Martina told her as Bupe took their vitals into the system. She was wearing a long dark green dress with a low cleavage that made her look so sexy. Bupe smiled at them and said, “Yes, from Tanzania. Welcome to Africa, and to Kenya. I am always happy whenever I see a black guy with a white girl, we should have many more interracial marriages to end racism.” “Yes, I will make sure I will influence many of my friends to get married to African men.” Martina told Bupe. Bupe just smiled and continued typing. “A gynaecologist will see you and advise you as necessary. About multiple births, like twins and triplets, there are drugs that can induce hyper ovulation, injectable medication or oral medication. Also, other ways like IVF can also be used to make sure that you get twins or triplets but that is a bit costly.” Bupe told them, taking all the time to reply to Martina’s questions. A few minutes later, as they sat at a queue waiting for their turn with the gynaecologist who had many other people waiting, Martina told Kinyua while smiling, “I love that nurse, she is so nice and professional. I should have a date with her to know more of the things I want to know.” >>The thrilling DRAMA continues >> Story by Anthony Kiarie Copyright © Anthony Kiarie. All rights reserved. Black and White Love: CHP 9 – Challenges in the hood “Mum is still furious with me. She called me and told me to go back to England immediately.” Martina told Kinyua that evening as they were seated watching a movie after eating. She sounded so worried too. Kinyua noticed how worried she was and asked her, “Did she threaten you?” “No.” Martina replied, “But dad…” She paused. “Dad…what?” Kinyua asked. “Do I have to tell you?” Martina asked. “Yes.” Kinyua said. He already expected something bad. “Mum told me but said she is only telling me to know how what to do. She told me that she overheard dad talking to another man saying that he is planning on getting someone to come and kill you, and take me back to England by force.” Martina said. “Mwaathani!” Kinyua exlaimed. “What does that mean?” She asked. “Good lord!” Kinyua said. She laughed and said, “Sounds funny.” “Yes, but, the idea of someone coming to kill me, damn!” Kinyua said. “Ok, mum is against our love, a lot, but, she is also for letting me do whatever makes me happy. So, she told me about my dad’s plot to kill you and told me to do whatever I can to make it not happen.” Kinyua said. “Jesus Christ! So, your dad plans to get me killed, was it that serious?” Kinyua asked. “Yes.” Martina said, “But, I am glad mum told me.” “So, how will they know where I am unless they track you down?” Kinyua asked. “I don’t know, I have never been an assassin.” Martina said. “Ok, we will see how it goes.” Kinyua said. Martina chuckled and said, “Anyway, you won the bet, you will win this one too.” Kinyua smiled and said, “Yes, but, eh! If it gets to me getting killed, then I am ready to let you go.” “I am not going anywhere.” Martina said suddenly giving Kinyua a tight hug. “Ok? I am not going anywhere, they can go to hell for all I care.” “So, your mum isn’t against us…” Kinyua said. “She is, but, she told me to go ahead and live my life as I wish as long as I won’t regret my choices in future.” She replied. Kinyua didn’t say anything else but began caressing her, slowly undressing her. She also began undressing him and within no time, they were both naked and she was on top of Kinyua riding his dick furiously and screaming on top of her voice not caring who was listening. When they were done, they slept on the couch not even bothered with the fact that it wasn’t all that comfortable on the couch since it was not as spacious as the bed. The TV which had a timer eventually shut down on its own and the table room got dark except for the small light coming from outside, from a security light. ---- The following morning, Martina did some domestic chores in the morning as Kinyua did some work from his laptop working remotely with Patience. Martina then went to the shop nearby to buy a few items. It was a walking distance but the route passed between two walls of residential plots where some boys were known to stay smoking weed and mugging people at night. That morning, as she was going to the shop, she met some of the boys and one of them stood on her way, blocked her from passing and said, “Money, dollars.” Martina knew she was about to get mugged. The young men seemed frail and thin. They were even chewing some leaves which she didn’t know what they were. Two boys stood behind Martina and the other one in front. Martina smiled at the boy in front and told him, “Ok, I will give you some money, but don’t take everything from me.” “Phone, wallet.” The young man said, speaking one word at a time like he didn’t know English well. “I did not carry them.” Martina said. She was honest with them. The two guys behind began checking Martina’s pockets. Martina suddenly moved aside and said, “Chill guys! Ok, how about I go back to my husband, get the money and bring to you, no need to steal from me a few coins.”

“How much are you willing to give for the bet?” Kinyua asked Samantha. “1,000.” Samantha said. “You are joking.” Kinyua told her. “Ok, I have another proposal.” Samantha said. “Which is?” Kinyua asked her. “How about you sleep with me and we cancel the bet?” Samantha said without mincing her words. Kinyua laughed. “This is now a joke taken too far.” “I am serious, I can pay for it that way. Let me be your prostitute for a moment.” Samantha said. Kinyua laughed even more. He then looked at her in the eyes and said, “Ok, since we are friends, I am lowering the bet by 50%, give me 25,000. You suggested the bet, remember…” Samantha smiled and said, “At least, that is something I can afford.” She then reached for her handbag but instead of reaching for the money, she got out her phone. She got busy on her phone and then raised her head to look at Kinyua and told him, “Confirm, M-pesa.” Kinyua felt his phone vibrate with an incoming message. He saw a message from KCB. He had received Kshs 25,500 from Samantha. “Happy now?” Samantha asked Kinyua. “Yes, I am happy now.” Kinyua said. “Fine, I lost the bet but I honestly didn’t expect you to win a white girl, I mean, your seduction game must have gone over the roof, how did you even convince her to fall in love with you?” Samantha said giving Kinyua a charming smile. Kinyua laughed and said, “Love is free, whether from a white, a black, brown or whatever.” “Can you tell her to connect for me a white boyfriend too?” Samantha asked and then said, “I have lost weight to look more attractive, I am sure I can get one now, a white man.” “Maybe you check online, or go to coast and try your luck there.” Kinyua told her. Martina returned to sit with them. Samantha immediately told her, “I was negotiating the bet, to get it lowered. We have settled for 50%.” “50% now, 50% later, right?” Martina asked. “No, the bet is fully settled, 25,000.” Samantha said. “Oh! Ok, if that is what you two agreed.” Martina said. “Now, connect me with a white boyfriend too, I also want to enjoy some white love.” Samantha said. Martina laughed and said, “Ok, I will do my best to connect you with a mzungu guy, but, you must at least look better than you look now. Those white guys prefer slim to average girls, not someone like you. I know I am being brutally honest but that is how it is. If you don’t believe me, check around and you will realize that none of the white men ever go for black fat women, or those girls with big buttocks.” Despite having lost so much weight, Samantha was still not entirely in shape. She smiled even though she seemed offended and said, “Ok, I will work harder on that. Maybe I should now join a gym to tone my muscles a little bit better.” Martina gave Samantha a sweet smile and said, “Yes, the sooner you do that the better.” Being that Samantha had such a cute face, it was obvious that toning down a little further was going to make her very beautiful. >>The thrilling DRAMA continues >> Story by Anthony Kiarie Copyright © Anthony Kiarie. Black and White Love: CHP 8 – Samantha’s bet “The herbs that you were to take to get twins…” Kinyua told Martina that night as they lay down to sleep. The time was 11:50 pm and it was raining outside though the rain wasn’t as heavy. “Yes, what about them? I don’t want them anymore. That woman didn’t give us in good faith.” Martina said. Kinyua was silent for a while and then he said, “I gave the herbal powder to a dog, a stray dog and it died within minutes. The time I went outside, I was following the dog.” “Oh! My God!” Martina said paused and then added, “Jesus Christ! For real?” Kinyua sighed and said, “Yap, that is what it is. Now you remember God, huh! Thought you were an atheist!” Martina laughed and said, “That is just an exclamation, we use it all the time. I am sure you people also have such which you don’t really care what the terms mean.” Kinyua smiled and said, “Yes, like I hear people from Kirinyaga saying, abai! Or kangura! I don’t know what they mean but they usually say that when surprised or shocked.” “So, that old woman tried to kill me, huh!” Martina said. Kinyua sighed and said, “Forget about it, I no longer want twins or triplets, just get one at a time.” “What about Jelimo? Can we trust her?” Martina asked. “Yes, all I know, she is a good woman. Her husband is also friends with dad.” Kinyua said. “Ok, we are going back tomorrow, I fear living here now.” Martina said. Kinyua didn’t object. He wanted her to be where she was comfortable. ------ The following morning, Mama Kinyua brought to them a lot of foods to carry on their way back to Nyeri. On their way, they briefly stopped at Jelimo’s shop. As for her, she gave them a Fanta Soda, one liter, sugar, salt, 12 packets of milk, some cakes which she told Martina with a smile, “We call them Kangumu because of how hard they are.” She also gave them 2 bottles of mineral water, a packet of wheat flour and 2 packets of maize flour. As Martina drove away from Eldoret, she said, “Jelimo has a pure heart, I can see it in her eyes, as for her grandmother, I have nothing else to say.” ---- “Eh! I now believe, I have seen it with my own eyes. I owe you 50,000, right?” Samantha told Kinyua after she saw him with Martina where they went to meet. It was a day after Kinyua and Martina returned in Nyeri. Samantha was looking way smaller than the last time Kinyua saw her. Not just smaller, but healthier and happier. Martina knew about the bet and was there giving Samantha the sort of smile that said: you have lost the bet terribly. “Yes, cash.” Kinyua told Samantha. “I didn’t know I will lose this bet this much.” Samantha said. “Yes, you thought I am joking, now you owe me 50k.” Kinyua insisted. “What if I don’t have the money?” Samantha asked. She was speaking in English to make sure that Martina could hear everything they were talking about. “I am not accepting excuses, give me the money.” Kinyua insisted. Samantha kept quiet. She knew she had lost it. She didn’t want to offend Kinyua and Martina too. Despite knowing that Kinyua was now beyond her reach, she still had feelings for him and respected him. “Can I talk privately with you?” Samantha asked Kinyua. “No.” Kinyua said. Martina however told Kinyua, “It is ok, let me go outside to make a call to mum, she told me to call her and I haven’t called her.” “Ok.” Kinyua said. Martina walked away leaving Kinyua and Samantha together. “Honestly, I did not expect you to have a mzungu girl.” Samantha said. “Yes, that is why I was so sure of the bet.” Kinyua said. “Ok, I sincerely don’t have the money, I was joking.” Samantha said. “So, if I didn’t have a mzungu girl, would you still want me to pay you 50k?” Kinyua asked her. “Ok, since I took the joke too far, please, lower the bet, please.” Samantha said, “Please I am begging.”

Kinyua followed the dog closely using his flashlight to see leaving Martina and his mother in the kitchen talking and really enjoying their moments together. As the dog walked, it seemed to stagger a little and then, it fell down, rolled a few times as if in acute abdominal pain, groaned for a while and then, it lay down still, totally dead. >>The thrilling DRAMA continues >> Story by Anthony Kiarie Copyright © Anthony Kiarie. Martina squeezed Kinyua’s lower back and said, “Fine, I am willing, it is also a tour to rural Kenya for me too.” ---- The following morning, Martina woke up and went to the kitchen to help Mama Kinyua to prepare breakfast. She even saw Mama Kinyua chopping some firewood using an axe and went to help. “Careful not to chop off your leg.” Mama Kinyua told her as she got busy slicing a small log into smaller pieces. She then took the pieces to the kitchen and pushed them inside the fireplace to make the fire more intense. Kinyua woke up and did some landscape work. His father left even before taking breakfast going to meet some cattle traders and said he was going back home past 3 pm. At around 11 am, Martina and Kinyua drove to Jelimo’s shop. They found her ready to take them to Moiben. She even had one of her daughters to help with the shop while they were gone. On their way to Moiben, just when they got to where the road had least traffic, Kinyua drove the rest of the way with Martina seated next to him, while Jelimo sat behind really enjoying the ride to see her grandmother. She even said, “I rarely go there, lack of money, this is an opportunity for me to see my grandmother after a long time.” “How long?” Kinyua asked. “Like 6 months now.” Jelimo replied. When they got to Jelimo’s grandmother’s place, they found the centenarian was outside giving leaves to her goats which were freely grazing around the compound. Despite moving around so slowly, she was still upright and able to move around just as good. “Wow! This is incredible! A centenarian still so active and strong! What do they eat here that makes them live so long?” Martina asked. “Natural foods.” Kinyua replied. They old woman greeted them with a handshake but completely refused to shake Martina’s hand. She didn’t even want to see her there. Martina felt bad about it and asked Kinyua, “Why is she showing open hostility against me?” Kinyua could say nothing. Jelimo, who felt bad at how her grandmother received Martina, told her softly, “First, I apologize on her behalf, but, the deep hatred against the whites is historical. She used to tell us how the white people would come in the villages and do many bad things to the villagers. Even her own brothers got taken away and were never seen again. Rumors has it that they were taken to build some railway in a far land but no one knows where they went. Her husband, my grandfather, also had traumas from interacting with the white settlers. He died a very angry man and completely refused to convert to Christianity because he said that they brought us religion while taking our lands. They did a lot worse to Kikuyus since their land was near Nairobi, the city. In fact, that is why people like Kinyua eventually settled in Eldoret.” “Why?” Martina asked Kinyua. “Our ancestral land was taken away from us, so, when Kenyatta took over being the president, he moved some of his tribesmen to Rift Valley and some to Coast, a place called Mpeketoni. My father once told me that his grandfather came from Kiambu, later said they came from Murang’a. I actually don’t know but I am glad we have a place to live now.” Kinyua said. “Ok, I should be the one apologizing on behalf of my white people, they did horrible things to you Africans. Anyway, that is why I love you. I want to cancel that hatred.” Martina said and gave Kinyua a hug. Jelimo spoke to her grandmother in their local dialect which was so difficult for both Kinyua and Martina. --- Later that evening, Kinyua picked the herbs that were meant to be taken by Martina to bear twins. He had doubts with them. Martina no longer seemed interested but said nothing about them. So, he picked one of bones from the meat they were eating and a few pieces of meat, attached the herbal powder to the pieces of meat and threw to a stray dog that had been circling their compound looking for food. The dog ate the meat and then, it walked away.
