🗣 Erik ten Hag on Alejandro Garnacho: "Reliable, but also has the x-factor. He is one who can outplay players, he can run in behind." [BT Sport]

🗣 Erik ten Hag: "Today we need goals, we have to win because we want to be number one in the pool." [BT Sport]

Van de Beek back on the bench for the first time since September 1. Maguire back for first time in seven weeks for #mufc. No Wan-Bissaka.

Man United XI vs FC Sheriff: De Gea, Dalot, Malacia, Lindelof, Martinez, Casemiro, Eriksen, Fernandes, Antony, Garnacho, Ronaldo.

Ten Hag: “Our overall play is gradually improving, even in such a busy run of fixtures, and that reflects the hard work the players have been putting in on the training ground and in games. I hope we see this trend continue at Old Trafford tonight.” #MUFC

but its incredible to watch ten hag at work, the team has come leaps and bounds under him. even with someone as influential as ronaldo trying to ruin the squad dynamics and force a transfer, his authority has emerged stronger than ever. teething attacking problems are difficult to solve because it depends a lot on the profile of ten hag's players. but he has clearly managed to instill his culture and style of play on this squad, from the last 2 games when we completely dominated both chelsea and spurs. i have no doubt that if he is properly backed next summer by being able to refresh the squad (selling awb, moving de gea and ronaldo on, signing a new gk, rb, st and maybe fdj in midfield) we can fight for the league. top 4 should be the minimum expectation for this season ahead

i agree with criticism that antony is quite limited given his distinct left-footedness, but he's really young and can improve on that significantly. a winger is at their most dangerous when you can't predict whether they are going on the inside on the outside. antony doesn't have the option to go on the outside since he can't cross with his right foot and is therefore always forced to come inside which really limits his impact. a lot of times during games, when he is in a dangerous area, you see attacks being snuffed out because he is forced to make a back pass instead of a cross

i'll quietly say that i doubt sancho will ever become a top player under us. bruno will be the main creative threat under ten hag while sancho lacks the individual brilliance and flair that most traditional wingers have. he is the type of player who needs players around him to facilitate the play (attacking wing back) while being the primary creator and won't ever be that effective for us. problem is that nobody will ever give us the kind of money we would want for jadon

small niggling problem with the composition of our team is that its made up of very bad attacking fits. a lot of our attackers require a lot of the ball to be at their most effective (sancho, bruno, ronaldo) while we lack a really effective 9 capable of both providing a goal threat through off the ball movement while being capable of bringing our wingers into play

🗣️ Erik ten Hag: "We are #mufc. We want to have a good relationship, we fight together. Licha [Martinez] always does this. Every challenge, every duel he gives everything he has. The fans they love it. You need some players in your team that express that."

Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Anthony Martial is still injured.

🗣️ Christian Eriksen: "I have always played in different positions and get moved around in the game. My thing has always been to be where the ball is. It doesn't really matter."

🗣️ Erik ten Hag on resting players before the World Cup: "I think it is the wrong idea. They only have one week and then the World Cup starts. You have to keep the right fitness, the right shape. It is not optimum but that is something the national managers have to deal with."
