🚨 Judiciary’s In-House Inquiry: Upholding Accountability 🚨 The Chief Justice of India (CJI) initiated a three-member in-house inquiry into Justice Yashwant Varma after currency notes were found in his official residence during a fire. This internal process is distinct from impeachment and ensures judicial accountability. 🔑 Key Points: Impeachment requires Parliament to pass a motion for removal based on “misbehaviour” or “incapacity”. The in-house procedure was created in 1999 to investigate allegations that don’t meet the impeachment standard. A three-member committee investigates allegations, and if serious, the judge may be advised to resign or retire. This process ensures integrity in the judiciary and upholds public trust in the legal system. ⚖️
