Prithviraj Chauhan’s Rajput army crushed Muhammad Ghori’s forces.
Wounded and unconscious, Ghori was moments away from capture.
At that moment, Khwaja Mu‘izzuddin Aibak, a young Khalji horseman, lifted the Sultan onto his shoulders, hid him in a marsh, treated his wounds, and waited for nightfall.
Through enemy lines, across the Yamuna, he rode to Lahore with the injured Ghori.
A year later, Ghori returned… and the Second Battle of Tarain (1192) changed India’s political destiny forever.
