So, we have already found out that modeling agencies are not independent companies, but directly follow the rules of the fashion industry, which is headed not by fashion houses, but by fashion media giants, they still dominate the leading positions in the industry, with editors-in-chief at the top of this pyramid.
These editors-in-chief of fashion magazines who set the agenda and the trends. Many people mistakenly think that the fashion industry is synonymous with the word "beauty", but this is fundamentally wrong. Also, many people think, and also mistakenly, that fashion editors-in-chief have one task - to show something really beautiful. This is a huge misconception. They have a completely different task, which I will talk about later.
Let's get back to our modeling agencies. What are they really? They're just scouts. Mindless scouts of the lying industry, and it sets a very specific standard to which these modeling agencies must obey. Sort of a bar of standards and criteria.

There is a comment to the previous post, that says that modeling agencies have already adopted and now sign contracts with Influencers and models from social networks, including those who came from Instagram, which means that they are already willing to take established media personalities with lots of followers. But it's not quite like that.
Modeling agencies are not independent players in the market, they are subject to strict laws and rules of the fashion industry, and their main task is to promote those models who meet the current industry standards
The main point is that the priorities of the fashion industry and the mass audience may differ significantly. Models that the fashion industry is interested in often have specific looks that may not appeal to the general public. Whereas media personalities and influencers have charm and charisma that can attract a large number of followers, their looks and image may not meet the requirements of high fashion.
Agencies, being part of the fashion industry, have to follow its standards. Their task is to find those who fit these strict criteria, not to focus on media popularity. This is the reason why agencies rarely work with established Instagram stars, as their looks and style may simply not fit into the framework set by the industry.
