⚡️ Briefing by Chief of Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Protection Troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov on U.S. military-biological activity (January 15, 2024) 💬 Based on the analysis of documents obtained during the special military operation, the structure of the system set up by the U.S. administration for global biological risk management became clear. It is made up of government agencies and private contracting companies, including the so-called 'Big Pharma' companies. Through the U.S. executive branch, a legislative framework is being formed to fund military biological research directly from the federal budget. Under state guarantees, funds are attracted from non-governmental organisations controlled by the Democratic Party leadership, including the investment funds of the Clintons, Rockefellers, Soros, and Biden. The main contractors of the American military department are Metabiota, Black & Veatch, and CH2M HILL, which are entrusted with the construction of biobased facilities, supplying equipment for the Pentagon's biolaboratories around the world. The work is being coordinated by the U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA). <...> Thus, the systemic expansion of biological-military activities poses a threat to the security of the Russian Federation and other States considered by the United States as strategic adversaries. The scale of U.S. dual-use research and the global biological risks it poses raise the question of an independent international investigation. ☝️ In the current situation, we consider it extremely important to resume work on a legally binding protocol to the Convention, which would be binding on all States Parties to the BWC, and first and foremost on the United States. 🎙️Russian Embassy comment on the visit of UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to Ukraine on January 12 ▪️Rishi Sunak's public relations get-together with his "friend Zelensky will have dire results, primarily for Ukraine. ▪️Pretentious appeals aside, London continues to regard Ukraine as a geopolitical tool levelled against Russia. ▪️The agreement signed in Kiev leaves no chances for the Ukrainians to settle the conflict through negotiations, consigning them to the role of a "bargaining chip" in Anglo-Saxon gambles in Eurasia. 👉The UK offerings will not change the overall balance of power and the catastrophic outcome of the conflict for Ukraine. But they will contribute to the prolongation and intensification of hostilities, and thus claim new victims. ❗Sunak’s "solidarity voyage" was intended, among other things, to solidify the ruling Conservatives' nosediving pre-election polls ahead of the upcoming UK parliamentary elections. 🎙 Statement by Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia at UNSC briefing with regard to strikes by US-led "international coalition" against the territory of Yemen (January 12, 2024) 💬 On January 11, the so-called "international coalition" led by the United States and Great Britain, which included Australia, Canada, Bahrain and the Netherlands, who calls itself the capital of world justice, launched massive strikes on the territory of Yemen. This was not an attack against a group in this country, but against the people of Yemen as a whole. They hit the Yemeni port of Hodeidah, the cities of Sanaa, Saada, Zabid, Taiz and Damar. The US and satellites bombed airports and other infrastructure. Fires are burning in shell craters. Unfortunately, what we are witnessing in Yemen looks painfully familiar. We have seen the exact same pattern of destruction in Gaza for the past three months. Now, long-suffering Yemen has once again become a hotbed of hostilities in the region. Clearly, Washington is not going to stop there. The White House said it "reserves the right" to resume military action if there be more "threats". It does not take an expert to see that the United States will determine these "threats" and response measures at own discretion, without slightest regard for international law. ☝️ Massive strikes of the US and the UK against the territory of Yemen have nothing to do with the right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. <...> The US and its allies have a long record of gross violations and misinterpretations of international law. <...> Apparently, when it comes to Washington's hegemonic aspirations, neither international law nor the ICJ carry any weight for Americans and their allies. This is what the US-promoted "rules-based world order" is about. <...> ❗️ We call on the international community to resolutely condemn the attack on Yemen by a group of countries under the lead of the US and UK that was done without a UN mandate. 🎙 Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s answer to a media question regarding Russia’s position on the Taiwan issue Question: Taiwan held elections today to choose the so-called president and MPs. What is the Russian Federation’s position on this matter? 💬 Maria Zakharova: Russia’s position on Taiwan is well-known and consistent, as set forth in Presidential Executive Order No 1072 of September 15, 1992, On the Relations between Russian and Taiwan. This position is also set forth in the key documents governing Russia-China relations, primarily Article 5 of the Russian-Chinese Treaty on Neighbourly Relations, Friendship and Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China, dated July 16, 2001.
It reads: "The Russian side reaffirms that the principled stand on the Taiwan issue as expounded in the political documents signed and adopted by the heads of state of the two countries from 1992 to 2000 remain unchanged. The Russian side acknowledges that there is only one China, that the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China and that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China. The Russian side opposes any form of Taiwan's independence."
<...> We believe that relations between the two parties in the Taiwan Strait constitute an internal matter for China. Attempts by certain countries to use the elections in Taiwan to pressure Beijing and destabilise the situation in the strait and across the region are counterproductive and must be condemned by the international community. ☝️ We call on all outside forces to refrain from provocative actions undermining regional stability and international security. 🎙 Statement by Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Vassily Nebenzia at UNSC briefing on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question (January 12, 2024) 💬 Russia supported Algeria's initiative to convene today's urgent meeting of the Council on the situation in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, with a focus on the threat of forced displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, in light of the illegality of such steps by West Jerusalem in the terms of international law. And that is only part of the deadly "puzzle" that assembles into the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza. As of now, more than 23,000 people have been killed in the enclave. That includes, by preliminary data, more than 7,500 children. Thousands of people are missing under the rubble of destroyed buildings. <...> Civilian infrastructure, including medical facilities, has been destroyed almost completely. The total blockade of Gaza has led to acute shortages of water, fuel and medical supplies. <...> Since the beginning of the escalation, some 2 million people have already been displaced. Half of them are women and children. <...> ❗️ The attack of October 7 cannot be used to legitimize Israel's use of force in the Gaza Strip. <...> A coherent strategy of West Jerusalem is emerging. Its goal is to forcibly displace Palestinians, and its logic is simple - to make life in Gaza unbearable, even impossible, leaving the civilian population with the unimaginable choice – either leave your homeland or get killed. <...> ☝️ Under the current circumstances, Russia's principled approaches remain unchanged: • an immediate ceasefire, • unimpeded & safe humanitarian access, • release of hostages, • the restoration of the political horizon on the basis of the two-state solution for the Middle East settlement. ⚠️ Without an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the Middle East risks plunging into a full-scale war with the most serious global implications.

🏅 #OnThisDay in 1945, the Red Army launched its Vistula-Oder offensive, liberating Polish territory west of the Vistula and capturing a bridgehead on the left bank of the Oder, which was later used in the advance on Berlin. By early 1945, the Red Army in the east and the Western Allies from the Second Front had closed in on Germany for a series of final assaults on the enemy. As before, the Wehrmacht concentrated its main forces – 185 divisions, including 33 tank and mechanised divisions, as well as 21 brigades – against the Soviet fronts. The Soviet offensive was planned for January 20. But on January 6, the Allies suffered a major setback in the Ardennes and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill asked Soviet leader Joseph Stalin for help by moving up the offensive on the Vistula front. The Soviet Supreme High Command General Headquarters responded by curtailing preparations for the Vistula-Oder offensive and setting the date for its start on January 12. ☝️ The Red Army had to break through 300-500 kilometres of multi-layered defensive positions between the Vistula and the Oder rivers. The first line of defence on the Vistula consisted of four belts 30 to 70 kilometres deep. The most formidable obstacle for the attacking forces was the sixth line of defence that ran along the 1939 German-Polish border and included the Pomerania, Meseritz, and Glogau-Breslau fortified areas. As a result, 35 enemy divisions were routed and another 25 lost between 50 and 70% of their strength, weapons and equipment. Forces of the two Soviet fronts took prisoner 147,400 officers and men and captured 14,000 guns and mortars, as many as 1,400 tanks and assault guns, and over 1,000 aircraft. 🎖 The Vistula-Oder operation went down in history as the most rapid WWII offensive. The Soviet forces advanced 500 kilometres within 23 days (!), liberated vast territories in Poland, and emerged on roads leading directly to the capital of Nazi Germany.

Boris Johnson and the denial of the obvious Western media has published statements by former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson seeking to deny his responsibility for the breakdown of talks between Russia and Ukraine in the spring of 2022. Obviously, Johnson is deploying clichés about “Russian propaganda” for cover. 👉However, his statements, published on January 11, 2024 in “The Times” and “The Wall Street Journal”, raise the question: what exactly is he trying to refute? ▪︎According to Johnson, during his controversial visit to Kiev on April 9, 2022, he sought to persuade Vladimir Zelensky to refuse to sign the above-mentioned treaty, justifying it by his distrust towards Moscow. ▪︎He bluntly stated that "any deal with Putin was going to be pretty sordid". ▪︎He recommended continuing hostilities since "Putin must fail". ▪︎He promised prolonged support, new tranches of military supplies, including anti-aircraft and anti-tank missiles, and financial assistance. ▪︎Moreover, following the visit, the Prime Minister's office set the record straight. A subsequent government press release clearly stated that, while in Kiev, Johnson "urged against any negotiations with Russia on terms that gave credence to the Kremlin’s false narrative for the invasion". ❗There can be no doubt that the cornerstone provision on permanent neutrality of Ukraine, as set out in the draft "Treaty on Permanent Neutrality and Security Guarantees for Ukraine", did not accord with the vision in London and Washington of the "terms" under which the conflict could have been resolved. Otherwise NATO members would not have spent the preceding eight years cynically exploiting the Minsk agreements in order to systematically prepare the Ukrainian military for a direct kinetic confrontation with Russia. ▪︎Against this backdrop the former prime minister's self-exonerating claims that the final decision belonged to the Ukrainians are utterly futile. ▪︎Importantly, by the beginning of the Special Military Operation, Johnson's premiership was already hanging by a thread. ▪︎The Ukrainian conflict was thus perceived by him as a promising chance to revive his flagging career. The issue at stake was never about concern for the future of Ukraine and Ukrainians - only about self-promotion and political survival. The outcome of Johnson's voyage to Kiev proved to be tragic for Ukraine. ➡️Read in full

Прямо заявил, что «любая сделка с Россией будет весьма гнилой» (any deal with Putin was going to be pretty sordid).

🇷🇺 Russia is renowned for its vast and diverse landscapes, ranging from frozen tundras to lush forests. The country's extensive territories and varied climates significantly contribute to its rich biodiversity. 🏞 In total, Russia has 238 federally protected natural areas, including 107 state nature reserves, 68 national parks, and 63 federal wildlife sanctuaries. Additionally, there are over 12,000 regional territories of various categories. Together, these protected areas encompass about 12% of Russia's total land area. 🐯 On January 11, the Russian presidential website launched an exciting new project dedicated to Russian nature reserves and other specially protected natural areas. This project features thousands of wildlife camera trap recordings and professional photographs from 39 nature reserves (and counting). 🌐 Available at NATURE.KREMLIN.RU, this initiative is a collaborative effort with the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and will be regularly updated with new content.

#Opinion by Maria Zakharova 💬 On the evening of January 7, at Via Acca Larentia in Rome, the former headquarters of the Italian Social Movement (MSI), a neo-fascist party dissolved in 1995, an annual rally was held by people adhering to its ideology. Though officially this party has not existed for almost 30 years, its activities and followers to some extent laid the foundations of the neo-fascist trends in present-day Italian society. One can recall that MSI was founded in 1946 by former members of Benito Mussolini’s fascist party and the ideologues of the Italian Social Republic, who remained loyal to the ideology of fascism and could not accept the defeat of fascism in World War II. Their dream was to revive the principles of nationalism. The MSI party was perfectly legal in Italy for years and even had representatives in parliament. The annual rally in Rome marked the anniversary of the assassination of three MSI members, who were killed on January 7, 1978 by far-left militants in an armed attack on the MSI headquarters. In a video that spread around the world, brown-shirted participants in the January 7, 2024 rally are seen raising their hands in the so-called Roman salute. Surely this was no accident at an event as thoroughly planned and organised as this one. But what was the official reaction? At first, everyone just kept quiet. Then, instead of coming out with an official and public denunciation, they invented their latest tale of “Russian hackers”, with the con artists at la Repubblica claiming to have identified three Russians in the crowd. The official silence was broken by President of the Senate of the Republic Ignazio La Russa, but the effect was unnerving. He said that Italy’s Supreme Court of Cassation should explain when this “salute” qualifies a political gesture expressive of an ideological commitment, versus when it’s just a “private” one. He seems to be hinting that the “Roman salute” (the fascist raising of the right hand) may be interpreted as a gesture of remembrance for the fallen, which simultaneously honours their ideology, in which case “it’s different” and therefore permissible. The world majority must know that the West supports the Kiev regime because, among other things, neo-Nazis came to power in Ukraine, whom NATO countries are so fond of. This is why keeps mum, when, for example, Waffen-SS veterans march in the Baltic states' capitals together with descendants and admirers of local collaborators who killed civilians during World War II. This is why keeps mum when politicians and demonstrators shout the Nazi slogan “Glory to Ukraine,” or unashamedly give fascist salutes like on January 7 in Rome. It is for this reason that the overwhelming majority of EU and NATO countries vote against the UN General Assembly resolution against the glorification of Nazism. The West hates Russia for its principled stand against any manifestations of neo-Nazism or attempts to rewrite history. Russia is committed to preserving true historical memory, and for this they are using the Kiev regime as a proxy to wage a hybrid war and take revenge on our country.

🎙 Foreign Minister Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s comment on the Copenhagen-format meeting in Davos on Ukraine 💬 On January 14, Davos, Switzerland, will be hosting the fourth Copenhagen-format meeting on Ukraine. Its organisers – Kiev and Bern. The Kiev regime, together with the Group of Seven members, will once again use deceit in order to persuade the countries of the Global South and East to support the would-be peaceful proposals stemming from the so-called Zelensky formula, an infamously odious framework. The Foreign Ministry has consistently criticised the Zelensky formula and the Copenhagen-format meetings designed to promote it for their shortcomings, hypocrisy and lack of connection to reality. 1️⃣ The Zelensky formula consists of a series of ultimatums targeting Russia. <…> Ultimatums of this kind cannot serve as a foundation for launching talks. 2️⃣ Ukraine has enacted a legal ban on holding talks with the Russian leadership. As long as this ban remains in place, discussing any proposals will not yield tangible results. 3️⃣ Discussing a settlement in Ukraine without involving Russia is senseless. 4️⃣ Kiev has been pushing the ultimatums contained in the Zelensky formula as the only possible solution with no room for alternatives. In doing so, Kiev and its masters have monopolised the right to put forward peace initiatives, effectively blocking all reasonable ideas from other countries, primarily from the Global South and East. 5️⃣ Zelensky has been bombing civilian sites with cluster munitions in Belgorod, Donetsk and other Russian cities, intentionally killing civilians, all while preparing the Davos meeting to discuss the prospects of a peace settlement. All of this demonstrates the true intentions of the leadership in Kiev, Washington, London and Brussels. ❗️ We are convinced that our partners in Asia, Africa and Latin America fully understand the reality of the situation and will not allow themselves to be drawn into openly anti-Russian initiatives. They focused on the implementation of agreements reached at the top political level and highlighted the importance of Russian-Chinese strategic interaction to create a just multipolar international order and, in particular, to ensure that the foundations of Eurasian security are solid. 📈 They noted that bilateral trade and economic cooperation has successfully overcome external challenges, with Russia-China trade passing the $200 billion mark as of the end of the year. Sergey Lavrov and Wang Yi touched on a number of priority items on the international agenda, including the Ukraine crisis, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the situation surrounding the Korean Peninsula and the Asia-Pacific region in general. They underscored their rejection of the Western bloc’s confrontational policy towards Russia and China, and the attempts to hold back their development using sanctions, deliberate provocations and other illegitimate means. ☝️ They also noted the purely constructive nature of interaction between Moscow and Beijing within the #UN, the #SCO, #BRICS and other multilateral formats, which is not directed against third countries. The Chinese side expressed support for Russia’s BRICS chairmanship. The Ministers exchanged views on ways to facilitate China’s contacts with the #CIS. Read in full
