💰 I'm looking for a new post-doc (flexible starting time). If you have a strong background in Bayesian statistics, know something what I've been doing recently and would be interested in working with @mcmc_stan, send me a message. https://users.aalto.fi/~ave/ #aalto #postdoc

Mathematical Methods and Models in Machine Learning The meeting takes place at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Bologna on 27 and 28 April 2020. https://eventi.unibo.it/m4l2020 Aim of the meeting The gap between the increasing performance of deep learning and its understanding is therefore a very relevant scientific theme that calls for a strong participation in research efforts from the fields of Mathematics and Mathematical Physics. The purpose of the conference is to present recent results on mathematical methods and models related to machine learning and link researchers coming from different areas. Registration Registration is required by March 10 at 11am. It is possible to apply for a short talk

We are advertising three 3-year PhD scholarships in algorithms at The University of Sydney, Australia. The successful applicant will conduct research with Joachim Gudmundsson, William Umboh, and André van Renssen in the Sydney Algorithms and Computing Theory (SACT) group. The specific topic will depend on the skills and interests of the student and could include for example computational geometry, network design, routing, trajectory analysis, approximation algorithms, and online algorithms. The Full Scholarship will provide tuition fees and annual stipend allowance for up to three years, subject to satisfactory academic performance. The recipient may apply for an extension of up to 6 months. For more details about the positions and on how to apply: https://sydney.edu.au/scholarships/b/postgraduate-research-scholarship-in-algorithms.html Application date: 27 February 2020 (Sydney time). Please forward to anyone who might be interested. If you have any questions, you are welcome to mail us directly (joachim.gudmundsson@sydney.edu.au).
