Dear Mommies! Let's talk tantrums! I know it can be overwhelming when our little ones lose their cool, but remember - tantrums are a normal and necessary part of child development! Case History: Fathima, a 3-year-old, would throw tantrums every time her mother, Khadeeja, tried to leave the house without her favorite toy. Fathima would scream, cry, and throw herself on the floor, making it difficult for Khadeeja to manage. Remedial Example: One day, Khadeeja decided to handle the situation differently. She knelt down beside Fathima, looked her in the eye, and said, "You're really upset right now, aren't you? It can be scary when we can't find our favorite toy." Fathima nodded, still crying. Khadeeja continued, "Let's seek refuge in Allah from the saitan and take a deep breath together and find a solution. We can leave the toy at home and find something else to play with in the car." Fathima slowly calmed down, and they found a compromise. By responding with understanding and patience, Khadijah helped Fathima navigate her emotions and develop essential self-regulation skills. Remember, wisdom is not about avoiding challenges, but about embracing them as opportunities for growth and learning - for both our children and ourselves! So, seek His mercy, take a deep breath, stay calm, and know that you're helping your child develop the skills they need to thrive in life!
