🏴😞🇰🇪 — Kenyan security agencies have announced that the Islamic State Central Africa Province (ISCAP), primarily based in the DRC and Uganda, has become increasingly active in Kenya. Security officials suspect the presence of recruitment networks and sleeper cells within the country. Kenyan intelligence has detected recruitment efforts targeting young people in some coastal areas, specifically Mombasa and Kwale counties. Officials warn that the group could pose a significant threat to national security, alongside Al-Shabaab. To counter this emerging threat, the Counter Terrorism Unit and the National Intelligence Service have established a joint team to track financial flows and recruitment cells, while coordinating intelligence efforts with Uganda and DRC. @Conflict_Monitor

🇳🇪 — The Junta Have Begun To Purge Elements of the Nigerien Army Several positions of the Nigerien Armed Forces in the Bankilaré department have been disarmed and arrested. Among them, a lieutenant colonel, head of operations in the zone, and his deputy. The disarmed and apprehended soldiers are currently being transferred to Niamey. In Diffa as well, several elements of the special forces are also being disarmed. Not only ISSP, but also ISWAP is going to benefit from this. @Conflict_Monitor

What Really Happened in Niamey? - How a Foiled Coup Attempt in Niger was Indirectly Triggered by the Islamic State Sahel Province Continuous Offensives in the Country On August 29, clashes were heard in the Nigerien capital, Niamey, specifically in the Diori Hamani International Airport, its 101 base, and the National Guard Camp near the Presidential Palace. Early on, reports were contrary weather its a coup attempt or a jihadist attack by ISSP/JNIM, but reporters mainly attributed the attack to ISSP because it previously carried out a similar one on the airport and its 101 base destroying several aircrafts from drones, helicopter, and planes on February 29, 2026. 24h trough the event and after things settled, it turned out to be a coup d'état. The rebellion was led by officers from the Dosso and Tillaberi regions, which are the two most effected regions by ISSP operations, with JNIM only starting to increase its attacks in Tillaberi months ago. Repelling the coup attempt was mostly credited to the Russian Africa Corps and Presidential Guard whom are better equipped and trained than the Nigerien Army. The mutineers demanded extra reinforcements from their original regions in Tillaberi and Dosso, resulting in soldiers abandoning their positions especially in the Dosso-Sokoto border with Nigeria, creating more security vacuum for ISSP, which already has a strong presence in those regions being its two most active areas in the country. All of this provides the actual reason for the coup not just being a struggle for power. This attempted coup, like is said before, came from two of the most effected regions by ISSP attacks. Thus meaning that the participants had enough of the worsening security situation without a clear ending to it. ISSP have been on a series of attacks in Niger for months, one of them happened in Tillaberi on June killing 100+ Nigerien soldiers and dozens of militiamen, Another Attack on July, same region, killed around 40 soldiers. As well as a Recent Attack in Dosso killing at least 20 soldiers, Another One, in the same region, weeks prior to the last one. Its worth noting that the ISSP Diori Hamani International Airport Attack in Niamey might have given the mutineers an inspiration for the coup seeing the junta being attacked in the capital in one of the most secured areas in the country. All of these circumstances provided the best environment for a coup attempt, although it failed, it still gave ISSP a huge benefit with a more destabilized Niger from within and a worst security vacuum to take advantage of. 🏴😞🇸🇴 — The Islamic State Somalia Province (ISSP) claimed responsibility for the bombing, announcing the killing of 13 soldiers and the destruction of their vehicle. According to the group's statement, the IED targeted a puntland forces patrol in route to inspect a communications network in the rugged mountains, claiming that the powerful blast destroyed the vehicle and killed everyone on board. Notably, ISSP militants had blown up the region's main communications tower last July, rendering it inoperable. This attack severely restricted the movements of Puntland forces, granting ISSP greater operational freedom and the ability to monitor troop deployments @Conflict_Monitor
