🏴😄🇨🇩 — North Kivu | An armed attack on Tuesday evening left four people dead and three others injured, according to preliminary reports, in the Home 4 and Kalunga neighborhoods of Mangina town in Beni province. The attackers also set fire to several houses and properties before withdrawing. This attack followed another one early Monday morning in Mbutaba, a town located in the far northwest of Beni city, specifically in the Matimbo neighborhood (Mulekeira municipality). Initial reports from that attack indicate three people were killed and several others injured. According to details provided by the provincial governor, the attackers began their advance from the villages of Kirutsi Wanzafula, west of Mangboko. During their advance, they captured two local residents and forced them at gunpoint to act as guides to help them move around the area. The attackers' convoy reached Mbutaba around 5:00 AM. There, the attackers executed one of the two hostages who were acting as their guide, before killing two other people found there. The attack was attributed to ISCAP. The Congolese armed forces were criticized for failing to protect and provide security for the local population and for their slow response, arriving some time after the attackers had withdrawn towards Toha Kaina, near Sayo. @Conflict_Monitor

🏳️😞⬛ — JNIM announced the assassination of the previous defected commander "Saad Fada,"somewhere in northeast Burkina Faso. In addition to two of his bodyguards. He defected on February, 2026, and prior to his death He made several audios prior to his death accusing JNIM doing peace talks with Ivory Coast, Mauritania, and Benin, in addition to their alliance with the FLA and their lack of Sharia within their territory even among their fighters when stealing or killing locals. Since his defection, ISSP attacks against JNIM increased in Burkina Faso which might have to do with his intel about their camps. Now that he is dead ISSP will further increase its attacks pushing south with their latest claimed attacks happening on June to July. @Conflict_Monitor

Appearing on July 12, 2026, he asserted that the Battle of Anafif "is not over," that Malian forces will leave Anafif "under duress," and that operations will continue until "the complete liberation of Azawad" and its independence. He also maintains that "Mali will know neither security nor stability before the independence of Azawad." Addressing the families of Malian soldiers, he states that the FLA holds "more than 200 prisoners" from the Malian army and invites relatives seeking news to contact the Front directly, without going through the "cursed" junta. @Conflict_Monitor

🏴❌🇲🇿 — The Islamic State, through its Amaq news agency, claimed responsibility for targeting a Mozambican naval force that attempted to advance towards the coast of Kitirajo in Macomia, Cabo Delgado, on Thursday, July 9, with rifles and machine guns, forcing them to retreat. The Mozambican army has a poor reputation among fishermen and coastal villages in Macomia due to forced displacement, arbitrary arrests, and mass killings, some of which have been documented by international organizations such as ACLED and Human Rights Watch. This situation has led some fishermen and villagers to seek protection from the ISM while carrying out their daily work. @Conflict_Monitor

🏴🌟— Al-Naba newspaper confirmed that ISCAP militants stormed the village of Butongwe after Congolese army soldiers fled. The militants remained there for four consecutive days, during which they gave lectures and lessons on Islamic doctrine. Al-Naba also confirmed that some villagers converted to Islam, while others agreed to pay the jizya (a tax levied on non-Muslims) in exchange for remaining safe in their homes and on their land. @Conflict_Monitor

🏳️🏳️😞🇬🇳🇷🇺 — Today, the Malian Army and Africa Corps took over the town Anefis after 4 days of fighting since July 4, breaking the siege of the base. FAMA/AC faced no resistance from JNIM/FLA, aside from the destruction of two vehicles due to IEDs on their way from Gao in the convoy to capture Anefis. It only took dozens of killed/injured troops, destroyed/captured vehicles, and two helicopters in addition to a Shaheed Drone. All of that to capture a town without a fight and brag about it as a win. @Conflict_Monitor
