If someone else breaks their own rules, we see them as hypocritical. If we break our own rules, we often explain it away with excuses, circumstances, or good intentions. Psychologists have found that when our actions contradict our beliefs, we experience an uncomfortable feeling known as cognitive dissonance. Instead of changing our behavior, many people unconsciously change their explanations to make themselves feel better. In other words, the human brain often prefers protecting its self-image over admitting it was wrong This doesn't mean everyone is a hypocrite all the time. However, it does mean that hypocrisy is far more common than most people would like to admit. One driver even turned around to check on her, but when he approached, she ran into a nearby wooded area and disappeared That was the last confirmed sighting of her A large search began almost immediately, but no trace of Asha was found. More than a year later, her backpack was discovered buried inside plastic bags over 25 miles away from where she disappeared. The bag contained several items, including objects that did not appear to belong to her To this day, nobody knows why she left her house, where she was going, or what happened after she was seen on that highway. First things first, no, these towers were not made for torture, executions, or sacrificing people. The name sounds terrifying, but the actual reason behind them is much deeper and connected to religion and respect for nature. The Towers of Silence are circular stone structures used by followers of Zoroastrianism, one of the oldest religions in the world, Zoroastrians believe that when a person dies, the body becomes impure. Because of this belief, they avoid burying bodies in the ground or cremating them with fire, They consider both earth and fire sacred, and they don't want either of them to be contaminated by a corpse So what did they do instead They built large towers, usually on top of hills or isolated areas. When someone passed away, their body would be placed at the top of the tower, exposed to the sun and scavenging birds, mainly vultures. Yeah, I know, weird enough for most people The vultures would consume the soft tissues of the body incredibly quickly, sometimes within only a few hours. After that, the remaining bones would be left to dry under the sun. Eventually, the bones would be moved into a central pit located inside the tower, where they would naturally break down over time.
