IBRĀHĪM AL-AKHḌAR Shaykh Ibrāhīm Ibnul-Akhḍar Al-Qayyim is one of the most distinguished Qur'an reciters and scholars of Qur'anic recitation (Qirā'āt) in the Muslim world. Born in Madinah in 1364 AH, he memorized the Qur'an and mastered the Seven and Ten Qirā'āt under renowned scholars, including Shaykh Ḥasan As-Shā'ir, Shaykh 'Āmir As-Sayyid 'Uthman, Shaykh Aḥmad Az-Zayyāt, and Shaykh 'Abdul-Fattāḥ Al-Qāḍi. He served as an Imam of the Prophet's Mosque for nine years beginning in 1406 AH, and has taught thousands of reciters from across the world. Along with a group of scholars, he helped initiate the establishment of the College of the Qur'an at the Islamic University of Madinah to promote the teaching of the Qirā'āt. Shaykh Ibrāhīm is widely recognized as one of the foremost authorities in Qur'anic recitation. He has served on numerous national and international Qur'an competition judging panels, remains deeply involved in Qur'an memorization and education, and is admired for his precise, beautiful recitation and lifelong service to the Book of Allah.
