Microsoft is preparing a major Windows 11 performance push, and the real target is WinUI. Windows 11 is moving to WinUI, including the Start menu and Agenda view in Notification Center. At Build 2026, Windows UI engineer Chris Anderson previously said Microsoft has invested heavily in reducing WinUI memory usage and moving it to the Windows system compositor for better performance. Right now, you can feel the WinUI tax in places like File Explorer. Open “This PC” and then compare it with the WinUI-based Home tab. The difference is obvious, especially on low-end hardware. Microsoft is testing memory, performance, and reliability fixes before rolling out the WinUI Start menu. The UI may not look dramatically different, but it should stutter less and use less RAM. Microsoft is fully committed to major Windows 11 performance improvements.

Windows 11 emergency update released after July 2026 Update caused "unexpected shutdowns, poor performance, increased heat, and battery drain." The new update is Windows 11 KB5121767 (Build 26200.8894), and it fixes these issues on affected machines, mostly Dell PCs. Microsoft says today's patch is only recommended for affected Dell PCs, but here’s the messy part...  this out-of-band update can automatically download on other PCs too if “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” is turned on. An emergency Dell-focused fix can still show up as a generic: “2026-07 Update (KB5121767)." The root cause is an incompatibility between Intel’s Innovation Platform Framework Processor Participant driver and Microsoft’s new Windows USB-C Connection Manager interface. That driver helps manage thermals, power, fan noise, and performance, which explains the heat and shutdown reports. Affected Dell PCs should install it. Everyone can skip it, but nothing would happen if you choose to install it on non-Dell PCs. And please turn off that “latest updates” toggle unless you actually want Windows Update to grab everything Microsoft throws into the channel.

📢 Project Status Update A quick update for everyone. The replacement laptop charger I received turned out to be fake, so it has been returned. Right now, there's no ETA for when I'll have a working charger again, which means development is still on hold. There's also something I've been thinking about for a while. As real life gets busier, I simply don't have the same amount of time I used to for personal projects. Because of that, there's a chance DA Music may remain a work-in-progress and never receive a public GitHub release. Microsoft is testing a new Windows 11 Copilot feature that can help users determine why their PC is running slowly but uses almost 1GB of RAM Instead of searching through Task Manager, Copilot can check system CPU and RAM usage and explain in simple language what might be causing the slowdown. It can also suggest ways to improve performance. The feature is still being tested and isn’t available to everyone yet. One detail that has caught people’s attention is that the current Copilot app can use close to 1GB of RAM after it’s opened, since it’s built as a web app that runs with Microsoft Edge in the background.

Microsoft has confirmed that some Windows 11 PCs can’t install the latest Secure Boot security update because of a known compatibility issue.

The company says the update is being temporarily blocked on affected devices while it works with PC manufacturers on a fix. If your PC is affected, you don’t need to do anything. The update will install automatically once the issue is resolved.

Microsoft also says this isn’t an immediate security problem, and your PC will continue to work normally.

Microsoft is working on a new Windows 11 recovery feature called Cloud Rebuild that makes it easier to recover a PC that won’t boot. Instead of creating a USB installer, you can reinstall Windows and all required drivers directly from the cloud. The feature downloads a fresh copy of Windows and the correct drivers, then performs a clean installation. Unlike Reset this PC, Cloud Rebuild doesn’t keep your apps, files, or settings, it’s designed for cases where Windows is too damaged to repair normally.
