On the recent alliance between TPLF, Fano (AFNM) and OLF
Forming a political alliance to face a bigger opponent can be a good strategy but only if its long term consequences are calculated.
What is the strategy here?
Where is the principle?
What is the calculation behind an alliance of these three parties with mutually exclusive ideologies?😂
Should Eritrea be this determinant in shaping our country’s political landscape?
If this is truly a struggle for the people and not simply a quest for power, then every political entity involved should be able to answer these questions.
- Why is Ethiopia still trapped in a generational loop of violence?
- What was actually gained from the previous and still ongoing wars?
- Reports show that more than 3 million children in the Amhara region alone are out of school because of conflict and insecurity. I personally have lost three relatives because of the war in Oromia. Tigray has still not fully healed from the previous war. Working in many rural parts of Ethiopia is becoming a luxury of the past, further stagnating the economy. Who gained?
- And now El Nino is already here and expected to strengthen. Does Ethiopia need serious emergency preparedness for the climate and humanitarian risks ahead or another more complex war?
- Can we really afford another war? Is there any political question that could be settled by violence?
My honest opinion
I still believe that Ethiopian political actors have more to gain from partnership and stability than from mutually destructive conflict.
I am not stating my wish. I am talking about practical realities.
Fact 1 : An extremely polarized and weakened Ethiopia, with multiple armed groups controlled by enemy states, is a loss for all Ethiopians.
Fact 2 : A politically stable Ethiopia, built on mutual trust and a unified effort, can enforce its interests in the region, expand trade, and pursue strategic national interests including access to ports such as Assab.
Any politician preferring the anarchic Ethiopia is either retarded or is in a personal quest for power!
I completely understand the motive behind this alliance, I am only against its myopic calculation.
Such type of immediate problem centered unprincipled politics is destructive for everyone involved when the calculation stops at the moment of victory (if it comes)
ታሪክ የሚያስተምረን ከሆነ The Chinese Communist Party did not form an alliance with Japan just for the sake of defeating the stronger Nationalist Party. Despite being much weaker at the time, Mao demonstrated the political maturity to understand that the calculation should involve not only our current position and how to defeat today’s opponent, but also what comes after that.

A new investigation by 404 Media says OpenAI has hired hundreds of contractors to review real ChatGPT conversations as part of “Project Lily.”
The reviewers reportedly read prompts and entire conversations, then rate and critique ChatGPT’s responses to help improve future models.
And the conversations can get very personal.
Users have reportedly shared everything from relationship problems and mental-health struggles to sensitive professional and personal information. OpenAI says it attempts to remove personal information before chats reach reviewers, but acknowledges that sensitive details can still slip through.
The contractors apparently don’t see users’ ChatGPT usernames, but one prompt reviewer told 404 Media they don’t think most users realize that “some contractor somewhere” could be analyzing their conversations.
Anthropic also confirmed that it uses human review to improve its models.
