Liking characters that suck is hard ngl, because what do you mean you're hating them but for all the wrong reasons? Hate them correctly at least.
(Not aimed at anyone, just general fandom experience)
A rant about fictional parents & fandoms (it's fandom critical).

Ok but fandoms have obsession with putting all parent characters in "bad" or "good" boxes. "She's a good/bad mom" this, "he's a good/bad father" that. Have you (general you) considered that sometimes characters are more complex than that? Sometimes characters change for better or worse? Sometimes characters try their best and still it's not enough? Sometimes they make good decisions AND bad decisions? Because they are complex characters. *not all characters btw, but this is the case for many.
