What I love most about this animation is that it doesn't try to make sadness look ugly. It turns sadness into something artistic and beautiful. Even the Land of the Dead feels more alive than the world above it, which makes the whole story feel almost ironic.
There's also something comforting about the way the characters are imperfect. Nobody feels completely good or completely bad. They all have their own fears, mistakes, and desires, which makes the story feel deeper than a simple love story.
Maybe that's why Corpse Bride has stayed in my mind for so long. It's dark, mysterious, emotional, and strangely comforting. It reminds me that sometimes the me eautiful stories are the ones that carr, le sadness inside them.
