So in market terms, the analyst’s view is essentially: > “This is no longer a phase where investors should be expecting imminent rate cuts due to recession fears. Instead, Korea may be entering a late-cycle overheating environment where the economy is proving stronger than expected, potentially allowing rates to move even higher.” In that kind of environment, capital usually rotates away from long-duration, loss-making growth stories and toward companies with strong cash flows, reasonable valuations, and direct exposure to the economic cycle. That is why areas such as banks, insurers, industrials, power infrastructure, shipbuilding, semiconductors, and broader value stocks are increasingly being discussed as potential beneficiaries. On the other hand, high-valuation growth stocks, highly leveraged assets, and rate-sensitive sectors such as real estate could face relatively more pressure.

A Korean analyst is arguing that the Bank of Korea no longer has many reasons to hesitate on raising interest rates further. Previously, the case for only one additional hike this year was based on concerns that inflation was being driven more by supply-side pressures, while Korea’s consumer price structure and rising inflation expectations could still hurt households significantly. There were also worries about weakening growth. However, those concerns are fading as Korea’s economy appears to be running hotter than expected, with the output gap now firmly positive. What is especially important is that financial conditions in Korea are still extremely loose despite higher rates. Risk appetite remains very strong across asset markets, and the ongoing rally in equities suggests that liquidity and investor confidence are still healthy. The argument is essentially that this kind of “risk-on” behavior does not happen in an economy that is truly struggling. From the central bank’s perspective, there is currently little need to worry about hurting sentiment or tightening financial conditions too much. Another key factor is the government’s improving fiscal position. Strong tax revenues give the government room to increase spending if higher rates begin slowing the economy. In other words, monetary tightening and fiscal expansion can happen at the same time: the Bank of Korea can focus on fighting inflation, while the government supports growth through spending. Putting everything together — sticky inflation, rising inflation expectations, decent growth momentum, strong financial markets, and solid tax revenues — the analyst concludes that there are very few remaining obstacles to further rate hikes. Rather than debating when rate cuts will begin, the more relevant question may now be whether Korea’s policy rate could eventually reach 3.25% by 2027.

If you are into glass substrates related korean stocks
In Korea, the safest large-cap exposure is still SKC. Other key names: 1. Samsung Electro-Mechanics(009150 / KOSPI) :Probably the strongest domestic player pushing for commercialization of glass substrates. The company has already built a pilot line in Sejong and is targeting mass production around 2026–2027. 2. Daeduck Electronics (353200 / KOSPI) One of Korea’s leading high-end semiconductor package substrate vendors (FC-BGA, etc). Since substrate makers are highly sensitive to form factor shifts, Daeduck is actively preparing for the next cycle through R&D and technology development in glass substrates. 3. Philoptics (161580 / KOSDAQ) Holds laser equipment technology for TGV (Through-Glass Via) formation, one of the core bottlenecks and essential processes in glass substrate manufacturing. 4. Jusung Engineering (036930 / KOSDAQ) Not a pure glass substrate play, but still worth monitoring as advanced packaging miniaturization and new material adoption could drive indirect upside. 5. HB Technology (078150 / KOSDAQ) Often grouped with Philoptics as a key inspection equipment player. The company already supplied inspection and repair equipment to Absolics (SKC subsidiary), making it one of the stocks most directly tied to Absolics’ mass production timeline. Basically: if the main players like SKC and Samsung Electro-Mechanics build the ecosystem, equipment companies (Philoptics, HB Technology) likely move first. Then, as commercialization ramps up, the benefits could spread downstream toward processing/material players like JNTC, Chemtronics, and YC Chem. That’s probably the cleanest way to frame the glass substrate value chain right now. imma just stick to skhynix

I’ve come to think that it’s not the fact my ballet teacher bought it that makes it a top signal… it’s when they actually make money from it and start looking genuinely happy 😭

Korea’s Ministry of Economy and Finance defended the upcoming crypto tax, saying investors should be “grateful” it’s only 20%. At a National Assembly forum, Director Moon Jung-ho said crypto is being taxed as “miscellaneous income,” which is actually more favorable than capital gains or comprehensive income tax that could reach up to 45%. He also argued this framework makes it easier to tax staking, lending, and airdrop rewards under one system. On criticism about unfairness after Korea scrapped the Financial Investment Income Tax, he said crypto taxation was never dependent on that law, noting that large shareholders, overseas stocks, and unlisted shares are already taxed anyway.
