The first fold is life.
The second is the life that does not end.
The third is the veteran β the one who gave years so the rest of us could keep ours. ποΈ
The fourth is trust.
A nation handing its weaker hours to people willing to be strong.
The fifth is the country they swore to.
The sixth is the heart. β€οΈ
Where the oath lives when the cameras are gone.
The seventh is the uniform.
Every branch. Every name.
The eighth is the valley.
The dark they walked into so morning could still find us.
The ninth is the mother.
The first person who ever taught them what it meant to
protect someone.
The tenth is the father
who watched a child leave and learned how long a driveway can feel.
The eleventh is the ancient seal.
The twelfth is forever. β¨
Then the last fold.
Stars on top. β
No stripe left showing.
Only the field they fought under.
A triangle like the old hats of Washingtonβs men.
A quiet reminder: In God We Trust.
They tuck the last edge in
so nothing is left unfinished.
Then they place it in a familyβs hands.
Not as fabric.
As a life, folded until it can be held.
Thirteen folds.
One triangle.
The last thing a family receives.

CHILLING VIDEO: He pointed his gun at his ex-wife's head at point-blank range β and pulled the trigger.
Prosecutors say former attorney Matthew Exton intended to carry out a "public execution" in a restaurant, but the gun didn't fire because the safety was still on.
Before the man could try again, a waiter tackled him and others in the restaurant stepped in to subdue him.
Exton has been convicted of attempted murder and is scheduled to be sentenced later this month.
