On Saturday, AAU STARTUPS in Collaboration with Tesfa AI, we brought together a different kind of room. We invited founders from our startup community to sit with experienced business leaders, operators, communication experts, and marketing professionals — people who have built and scaled businesses in Ethiopia and internationally, some across multiple industries. The goal was simple: exposure. Because building a startup is not only about technical capacity. Writing code, building products, and shipping fast matter — but they are only one piece of the equation. Founders also need perspective, business understanding, communication, sales, market insight, and most importantly, access to people who have already walked difficult paths. One thing we deeply believe: Thriving startups are not born in hackathons or fast-paced, book-based incubation programs alone. Real startup ecosystems are built through communities, relationships, difficult conversations, shared lessons, and long-term support systems. It takes a village to build enduring companies. AI Meetup Series — Session 2 Description In this second session of the AI Meetup Series, we move from introduction to hands-on building. Students will step into the practical world of AI agents by working directly with core components like agents, runtime, memory, and tools. The focus is on understanding how these pieces come together to create systems that can think, act, and adapt. Using OpenClaw, participants will learn how to quickly spin up and experiment with functional AI agents—moving beyond theory into real implementation. By the end of the session, students will be comfortable setting up basic agent workflows, integrating tools, and giving agents simple forms of memory and execution behavior.
