Tech topic of today is: PRs’ are like any other communication channels. This is more a comparison between my previous company PR formats and my current. In the previous one PR is more of feature release where the PRs’ were huge and the process was simple you test the PR and if it works you merge it. We tried to make them micro PRs’ using user stories to make them manageable was good though. But here all PRs’ are enforced to be micro and the review process is not to check whether it works or not but whether everyone reviewing it understands the approach, implementation and everything. So for a single micro PR you might have 25-30 comments and everyone asking what they don’t understand about your approach or giving better suggestions and everything. In a sense things move slowly but you’ve high chance of merging a safe PR than the previous one. But this is not to down play the previous one because the two companies are completely different. One can afford slowness but not quality. For the other one it can’t afford slowness because they’ve to ship fast and patch things until it becomes stable but had a good process for the quality control with few people reviewing the PR and ability to merge the PR. Lovely week tech nerds.

Okay final things for Friday. One forgotten win and one came after I wrote about the progress: 1. Dawit Getachew is releasing a live music and he’s my #1 singer/musician including secular ones and he’s not secular fyi (This is the forgotten one) 2. I was reviewing my mentor’s PR and I gave him a feedback and we had a back and forth conversation about it and he agreed to my comments 😁 yaaay me. Anyways this week was full of everything.

Istg I’m not kidding. I decided to play football at the last hour literally. On my way to the pitch it started to rain. To make things worse I was biking and my hands are cold and guess what it decided to stop raining when I stopped biking 😭😭😭. wtf is wrong with this week 😭.

Btw I got one full time job and one side job. My full time job is being a moral support for my best friend and she just passed a crazy assessment for an ai agentic course 🎉🎉🎉 and then being full time employed software engineer is my side job 😂. Crazy to think that she would beat me in AI and she’s not even from CS or Software Background 😭😂. I’m proud of you bud.

This week progress: ✅ Had a demo with the team ✅ Learnt a bit more about myself 😁 ✅ completed my task and I’ll be working on smtg new on Monday ❌ Didn’t go to the gym this week yet ❌ We lost the football game this week 😭 ❌ My throat allergy is acting up again 😭 ❌ Worked on out of scope project which led to different outcome than expected ❌ Only one plan for the weekend and that even lasts for about an 1hr 😭

The issue here was I can only test with small files which beats the whole point of profiling. The whole point of this task was to understand how much memory is used when the client request is high and ways to make it efficient. Anyways my framework works hopefully and they’re happy with my demo. They’re so happy with it they gave me a new PR that’s not merged to profile 😭😂. Good Luck me.
