Unconfirmed reports from yesterday claim that Israel carried out a strike yesterday that eliminated the entire Houthi cabinet, including the prime minister, defense minister, and other top leaders, all within minutes.
So what
If true this will be a significant blow to the Houthis and could possibly have a significant effect on the civil war in Yemen. One thing to watch will be if Saudi Arabia take advantage of the situation as a significant player in the conflict in Yemen. This could be an indicator of some high level coordination between Israel and Saudi, something that Iran fears.

Ukrainian Military Intelligence has released footage showing a Russian IL-76 aircraft being destroyed by a Ukrainian drone during a raid on Pskov airbase last night.
Comment
Pskov airbase is appropriately 30km from the Estonian Russian border.
So what
Ukraine continues to show that it can strike key Russian assets if left exposed. These types of attacks likely show the high level intelligence being provided to Ukraine, allowing them to strike where Russian air defense is lacking. It also likely shows the limitations of Russian air defense after such a protracted conflict. These attacks will slowly but surely grind down the Russian military possibly leading to them seeking real negotiations.

A Chinese fishing militia vessel illegally entered South Korean waters and, when confronted, attempted to ram a South Korean Coast Guard ship. In response, the Coast Guard threw a grenade at the vessel, causing it to catch fire and sink.
So what
While somewhat extreme it is possible this will keep the Chinese fishing militias away for a short period of time. However, it is also possible this will lead to increased tensions and hostility depending on how China reacts to the incident. Though it is possible China will want to maintain positive relations with South Korea as Trump pushes them away geopolitically. How they respond to this incident could be telling of how the future could play out.

Ukrainian media, including 24 Channel, released a video reportedly show the moment MP Andriy Parubiy was shot in Lviv earlier today.
So what
It is currently unclear why he was assassinated, I've seen a range of theories including involvement in criminal groups, corruption and of course Russian involvement. It is possible that more information will become available but it is more likely that the incident will be blamed on Russia publicly.

As the U.S. fleet approaches Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro is orchestrating displays of military backing to create the impression that his army fully supports him.
So what
While Maduro likely has significant support within senior ranks of the military, it is unlikely this high level of support filters down into the lower ranks. Though it is highly unlikely there will be a conflict between the US and Venezuela, shows like this are unlikely a true representation of the military's morale.

A Ukrainian FPV drone destroyed a hidden Russian field stockpile of TM-62 anti-tank mines in the eastern sector, causing an epic explosion.

Last night, Ukrainian long-range FPV attack drones struck a Russian Buyan-M corvette in the Sea of Azov, a vessel equipped for launching Kalibr cruise missiles. The first drone disabled the ship’s radar, and the second damaged its superstructure and bridge.
So what
Both sides in this conflict continue to develop and advance their drones at an impressive rate. It is likely that this attack will further limit Russia's ability to operate naval vessels as platforms to strike Ukraine. Regardless it is likely Russia will develop tactics to continue their attacks on Ukraine.

Ukrainian kinetic sanctions continue as drones carried out simultaneous attacks at dawn on three Russian oil refineries, Novokuybyshevsk (915 km away), Kuibyshev (923 km), and Afipsky (380 km), further pressuring Russia’s oil and gas industry through sustained strikes.
So what
It is highly likely that these strikes will continue to put pressure on the Russian economy both through lack of revenue and fuel shortages domestically. However, it is likely that this pressure is leading to Russian increasingly striking civilian targets in Ukraine as retribution.

A Russian overnight attack on Kyiv using ballistic missiles and drones struck residential buildings, leaving the city in devastation and killing four people, including two children.
So what
It is not clear why Russia targeted these buildings outside of wanting to cause panic and chaos within the civilian population of Kyiv. It is possible they were supposed to target something nearby and missed, but this seems unlikely in a residential area. Regardless strikes like this are unlikely to change the course of the conflict and likely to only strengthen the resolve of the Ukrainian people.

China’s VU-T10 is the world’s most heavily armed and armored unmanned combat vehicle, equipped with a 30mm autocannon, a 7.62mm machine gun, and two anti-tank missiles, giving it formidable firepower and battlefield versatility.
So what
This is a massive unmanned combat vehicle that could bring significant firepower to the battlefield without risking lives. However, it is likely vulnerable to electronic warfare attacks to cut off its control. Due to this, while it looks impressive, its usefulness in a state on state conflict would be limited.

On 27 August 2025, Venezuela deployed warships and drones along its Caribbean coast in response to a U.S. amphibious naval squadron sent to combat drug cartels. Caracas framed the move as defending sovereignty, while Washington described its deployment as part of an anti-narcotics mission.
So what
While this deployment is almost certainly a show of force it is unlikely the US is planning an invasion of Venezuela. It is possible it could lead to a naval blockade but this would likely require more vessels. Regardless, it is unlikely to lead to regime change in Caracas despite Trump's clear desire for this.

A newly released video from Russia’s "Africa Corps," which operates across several African countries, showcases the group equipped with modern Russian weaponry, including SV-98M and SVCh "Chukavin" sniper rifles, AK-12 Obr. 2020 assault rifles, and PKM machine guns, most of which are fitted with suppressors.
So what
The video appears likely to serve as both a recruitment and influence tool, aimed at showcasing advanced Russian weaponry and professional capability to African leaders. The slick presentation is likely intended to bolster the group’s image as an effective security provider, positioning them as a viable alternative to Western contractors and Western support. This suggests the Africa Corps functions not only as a revenue stream for Moscow through military and security contracts, but also as a strategic vehicle for deepening Russia’s political influence and securing long-term partnerships with African governments.

Bhutan has become the fourth nation to adopt Thailand’s Chaiseri First Win 4x4 Mine-Resistant, Ambush Protected (MRAP) armored vehicles—joining Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia—after acquiring 15 units worth THB225 million (US$6.8 million) for its Royal Bhutan Army contingent in UN peacekeeping operations in the Central African Republic. Officially handed over in November 2021, the vehicles were selected for their quality and affordability, featuring a V-shaped hull with STANAG 4569 Level 3B mine and IED protection, Level 2 ballistic protection, and compatibility with machine guns, grenade launchers, and firing ports. In addition to these capabilities, the First Win has also been equipped with limited anti-drone protection above its turret armor shield, enhancing its survivability against evolving battlefield threats.
